March 23, 2024, marks a significant turning point in my professional journey as I’ve decided to part ways with Platform X. This wasn’t an easy decision, and I feel compelled to share the rationale behind this move, especially since so many of you have been with me throughout this platform-centric voyage.
The Battle for Visibility
One of the most disheartening experiences on Platform X was the seemingly arbitrary distribution of views. Despite my podcast ranking in the top 200, the visibility of my content was inconsistent and unpredictable. It appeared that the platform’s algorithms favored certain types of content, often overlooking the quality or engagement of others. This inconsistency impacted not just my reach, but also the meaningful connection I’ve always sought with my audience.
Verification Vanished
Another pivotal factor was the removal of my personal verification. In the realm of social media, verification is more than just a badge—it’s a symbol of authenticity and trust. When Platform X retracted this status, it felt like a breach of trust, not just with me but also with my audience. It diminished my reputation and complicated the task of distinguishing my official content from that of potential impersonators.
A Wider Perspective
The issues I’ve faced are not isolated; they mirror the frustrations of many users across various social media platforms. The decision to leave is deeply personal and can stem from numerous factors, including concerns over mental health, privacy, and the pressure to maintain a certain image. I don’t hold Elon Musk solely responsible for these issues, as the complexities of managing a platform like Twitter, especially post-takeover, are immense. However, I do believe that the employees affected by some of his decisions as well as the takeover may be acting out of spite, which only exacerbates the platform’s challenges.
Looking to the Horizon Moving forward,
I’m seeking avenues to connect with my community that resonate more closely with my values. I stand for fair opportunities for creators and the significance of authenticity. While I will miss the connections made on Platform X, I am optimistic about the new paths that await.
Your support has been a cornerstone of my journey, and I invite you to continue with me into this next chapter. Thank you for being a part of my story thus far.
