The FBI Omaha Field Office closed out 2025 reporting a year of intensified operational activity marked by increased arrests, large-scale investigations, and major sentencing outcomes tied to violent crime, national security threats, organized criminal networks, and child exploitation cases across Nebraska and Iowa.
Field office leadership described the results as the product of sustained coordination between federal, state, local, and tribal partners operating across a wide geographic footprint that includes both urban centers and rural communities. Officials emphasized that the year’s enforcement outcomes reflected long-term investigative work rather than isolated actions, with cases often spanning multiple jurisdictions and criminal categories.
Across all program areas, FBI Omaha reported more than 548 arrests during the year, representing a 20 percent increase over 2024. A significant portion of those arrests involved crimes against children and human trafficking, with 58 arrests leading to cumulative sentences exceeding 1,000 years in prison. Those outcomes included two life sentences without the possibility of parole and an additional 30-year sentence carrying lifetime supervision.
Firearms enforcement remained a central priority, with investigators seizing more than 240 firearms connected to criminal activity. Search and seizure activity also increased substantially, with more than 900 searches conducted under warrant or court order, reflecting a 23 percent rise from the previous year. Officials stated that the increase was driven by complex investigations involving organized crime, cyber-enabled fraud, and national security threats.
Several high-impact investigations defined the year. Federal prosecutors secured indictments against 54 individuals tied to the designated foreign terrorist organization Tren de Aragua for their alleged involvement in a sophisticated ATM jackpotting operation that targeted financial institutions and resulted in millions of dollars in losses. Charges in that case included conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, bank fraud, computer-related fraud, bank burglary, and money laundering.
National security investigations also produced significant results. One defendant pleaded guilty to conspiracy to unlawfully disclose classified national defense information after sharing sensitive material through a foreign online dating platform. In another case, 13 Chinese nationals were arrested following coordinated searches across five states in connection with a racketeering conspiracy involving the interstate theft and transport of used cooking oil, a commodity that can be refined into biodiesel fuel and resold for profit. The case included charges related to interstate transportation of stolen property and money laundering.
Violent gang enforcement remained active throughout the year. The FBI Omaha SWAT team arrested an alleged MS-13 leader in Grand Island, Nebraska, accused of being part of a professional assassination squad tied to multiple homicides. Charging documents indicated that the individual had previously faced firearms-related homicide charges abroad and was alleged to have bribed his way out of custody before entering the United States.
Child exploitation and trafficking cases accounted for some of the most severe sentencing outcomes of the year. One offender was sentenced to life in federal prison for sexually abusing and trafficking dozens of children and adults, using a position of professional trust to groom and exploit victims over an extended period. In a separate case, a defendant received a 50-year federal sentence for child sexual exploitation offenses involving the receipt and possession of millions of files of child sexual abuse material.
Investigators also disrupted a human trafficking operation linked to hotels in the Omaha metropolitan area and central Nebraska. Five individuals were arrested for their alleged roles in labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and harboring undocumented individuals. Officials described the case as an example of how trafficking networks often operate in plain sight within legitimate commercial settings.
Drug trafficking enforcement produced lengthy prison terms for high-level distributors. A reported gang-affiliated fentanyl dealer received a sentence exceeding 21 years for participation in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy, while another defendant central to a multi-state drug trafficking network based in Nebraska was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Additional convictions were secured in cases linked to firearms offenses, obstruction of justice, and unresolved missing-person investigations.
FBI Omaha also conducted multiple targeted enforcement initiatives throughout the year, including Operation Restore Justice, Operation Summer Heat, and Operation Relentless Justice. Combined, these efforts resulted in the arrest of more than 30 individuals tied to violent crime, exploitation offenses, and organized criminal activity.
Officials stated that intelligence analysis and community cooperation played a critical role in identifying threats, prioritizing investigations, and supporting prosecutions. The field office reiterated that while enforcement outcomes are measured in arrests and sentences, the broader objective remains long-term harm reduction through disruption of criminal networks and early intervention where possible.
As the office moves into 2026, leadership indicated that the operational focus will remain centered on violent crime reduction, protection of children, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, cyber-enabled crime, and public corruption. Authorities encouraged members of the public to continue reporting suspected federal crimes, noting that community-sourced information remains a key component of successful investigations.

Congratulations to the FBI Omaha Field Office and cooperating others who are responsible for all that was done to make life safer for the people of Nebraska. I have relatives in Nebraska and I’m sure they will be pleased to hear this report. All of these crimes are bad but I particularly noted crimes against children and human trafficking. It seems to be everywhere these days. I’m glad they were able to get some of these people off of the streets.
Thank you for this informative report!
You’re welcome, Chris. The scope of the work coming out of the Omaha Field Office reflects how much coordination and persistence is required to make a real difference, especially across a region that spans both urban and rural communities.
You’re right to single out crimes against children and human trafficking. Those cases tend to be widespread, deeply harmful, and often hidden in plain sight. Removing even a portion of those offenders from circulation has a direct impact on safety and long-term outcomes. Thank you again, Chris—always greatly appreciated. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for this good response. It is always great to hear when someone like the Omaha Field Office is having success in keeping the area safer. I think the coordination is the only way to go.
Thank you for this post, John! 🙂
