In the quiet hush of dawn,
When the sun’s first rays kiss the dew,
We gather, hearts heavy yet resolute,
To honor those who wore the red, white, and blue.
In fields where poppies bloom,
Their sacrifice echoes through time,
Names etched on marble and in our hearts,
Heroes who climbed the hills of valor, sublime.
Flags fluttering in the breeze,
Each fold a testament to courage,
The fallen, forever young,
Their legacy woven into freedom’s tapestry.
Tears fall like rain on hallowed ground,
As bugles play the mournful notes of ‘Taps,’
A symphony of gratitude and grief,
For those who gave their all, without gaps.
Names etched in granite,
Stories of valor and selflessness,
From Normandy’s beaches to distant deserts,
They stood tall, unwavering in their purpose.
Families left behind,
Their tears watering the soil,
They bear the weight of folded flags,
And memories that refuse to coil.
We owe a debt we can never repay,
To those who rest beneath the green expanse,
Their sacrifice, a beacon of hope,
Guiding us toward unity and resilience.
An eternal flame burns in our hearts,
Igniting gratitude and remembrance,
For the brave souls who walked the path,
And left footprints in the sands of existence.
To the unknown soldier,
Resting in honored anonymity,
We salute you, guardian of liberty,
Your spirit forever part of our nation’s symphony.
So, on this Memorial Day,
Amidst barbecues and laughter,
Let us pause, reflect, and whisper thanks,
For the brave souls who paved our hereafter.
