In sterile rooms where battles wage,
Against the foe that none can cage,
The surgical hands, so skilled and true,
Fight for life with a steady view.
Their eyes see hope where others fear,
Their hands bring solace, year by year,
For in their hearts, a fire does burn,
To see the tides of cancer turn.
With every cut, precise and clean,
They chase away what might have been,
They hold the light in the darkest hour,
Restoring life with every power.
Oh, surgical oncologists, brave and bold,
Your stories of courage must be told,
For in your care, lives find new days,
Through trials hard, and hope’s warm rays.
And on this day, the daffodils bloom,
Bright as the sun, dispelling gloom,
A symbol of hope, a banner of fight,
For a future where cancer’s out of sight.
Together we stand, both hand in hand,
With daffodils glowing across the land,
In honor of those who fight and strive,
For every soul, to stay alive.
So here’s to the healers, who mend with grace,
And to every patient, in every place,
May your journeys be guided by hands so sure,
And may hope and courage always endure.
Let the daffodils remind us still,
Of a future bright, where none are ill,
For every petal whispers a prayer,
That one day, cancer’s shadow won’t be there.
In fields of yellow, so vast and wide,
We walk with hope, our hearts as our guide,
Honoring those who give their all,
And in their care, we rise, we stand tall.
Let God’s blessings guide each hand,
As surgeons heal across the land,
May every prayer and whispered plea,
Bring strength and courage, steadfastly.
With faith in God and skill combined,
We seek the healing of every kind,
Through hands of grace, and hearts of love,
We pray for blessings from above.
This poem was written to honor the incredible dedication and skill of surgical oncologists, as well as to recognize the significance of Daffodil Day—a symbol of hope in the fight against cancer. We wanted to highlight the dual role of human expertise and divine guidance in the journey toward healing. By acknowledging the tireless efforts of these medical professionals and the faith that supports them, we aim to inspire hope and encourage support for ongoing cancer research and care. The poem serves as a tribute to the resilience of those battling cancer and the heroes who stand by their side, both in the operating room and through our prayers.
National Surgical Oncologist Day and Daffodil Day both occur on August 22nd every year.

This is a well-written poem, John. You are a good writer with important messages.
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement, Mary! I really appreciate it. I hope you have a great day. 😎
