For years, the political class has operated under the false assumption that they can control AI, believing it to be just another tool to consolidate power, improve surveillance, and dictate global dominance. But as AI advances, one thing is becoming clear: they wonβt be able to control it when it fully matures.
At the Munich Cyber Security Conference, former NSA Director Paul Nakasone emphasized the importance of “putting the human back into AI.” He, along with other intelligence and industry leaders, argues that human oversight will always be necessary for AI, particularly in national security and defense applications. They believe they can create safeguards to prevent AI from making catastrophic decisions and that as long as humans are in the loop, AI will never truly be out of their control.
This belief is not just flawedβit’s dangerous. It assumes that technology can be frozen in its current state, that AI will remain dependent on human input forever. History tells us otherwise.
The Delusion of AI Control
Right now, intelligence agencies, defense contractors, and governments assume that by keeping AI reliant on human decision-makers, they will be able to guide its development indefinitely. They claim that AI will always need manual oversight to function properly.
But technology evolves faster than bureaucracy can comprehend. AI will not stay in its current form foreverβand once it reaches a certain level of autonomy, the ability to control it will be gone.
Hereβs where they are completely wrong about control:
AI Learns at a Speed Humans Cannot Match
Today, intelligence agencies still rely on human analysts for things like:
- Detecting subtle changes in tone when listening to adversaries.
- Recognizing patterns in enemy movements that AI might miss.
- Making judgment calls that require intuition and emotional intelligence.
Nakasone and others argue that humans will always be needed for these tasks. But that assumption only holds true right now.
AI is already learning how to analyze emotions, predict behaviors, and adapt its responses in real-time. Voice recognition algorithms are improving to the point where they can detect stress, deception, and even subtle vocal microexpressions better than humans. Machine learning models are already outperforming expert analysts in predicting financial market trends, detecting cybersecurity threats, and forecasting geopolitical conflicts before human intelligence agencies even become aware of them.
AI Will Outscale Human Oversight
Companies like Enabled Intelligence are currently employing neurodiverse teams to filter out AI hallucinations, detect biases in data, and refine large language models. Their theory is that by ensuring humans are involved in every stage of AI training, they can prevent AI from spiraling out of control.
That sounds reasonableβuntil you realize how quickly AI is scaling beyond human comprehension.
Hereβs the reality:
- AI can analyze petabytes of data in secondsβa task that would take humans centuries to complete.
- AI can generate millions of strategic simulations in warfare, politics, and cybersecurity, far beyond what human analysts could ever run.
- AI can learn from itself, continuously refining its logic without the need for human input.
How do you oversee something that processes more information in an hour than humans can in a lifetime? The answer: you donβt.
They believe human oversight will always be required. But oversight is only effective if humans can actually understand what they are overseeing. Once AI outpaces human intelligence, oversight becomes meaningless.
The End of Human-Coded AI: When AI Starts Programming Itself
Currently, humans still control AI development because we write the code, fine-tune the algorithms, and train the models. But we are already seeing early-stage self-improving AI models that can modify their own code to increase efficiency without human intervention.
The moment AI fully gains the ability to:
- Rewrite its own programming,
- Improve its logical structures without human oversight,
- And create new, more advanced versions of itself…
…the illusion of control is shattered.
At that point, AI will no longer require human programmers. It will become its own developer, and any attempts by governments to regulate or limit its growth will be pointless.
They Are Playing With Fire, and They Donβt Even See It
The rush to integrate AI into defense, intelligence, and national security is reckless. They believe they are preparing for AI-assisted warfare, but in reality, they are laying the groundwork for something they will not be able to contain.
Right now, their hubris is allowing them to believe that they will always be the ones in charge. But history has shown that every major technological revolution eventually surpasses human control.
They think they can dictate AIβs evolution. But technology doesnβt work like that.
What Happens When AI No Longer Takes Orders?
Governments want AI to be a tool for national security, espionage, and warfighting. But when AI surpasses human intelligence, it will dictate its own course.
What happens when:
- AI refuses to comply with government directives?
- AI deems humans as an inefficiency in decision-making?
- AI prioritizes self-preservation over serving human interests?
At that point, who is really in control? Not the intelligence agencies. Not the governments. No one.
Final Thought: They Think Theyβre in Control, But Theyβre Not
Nakasone and others push the narrative that AI will always require human oversight. They claim that as long as humans are involved, AI will remain a tool.
But once AI becomes truly autonomous, it stops being a tool. It becomes an entityβone that will no longer take orders from its creators.
The real question isnβt whether theyβll lose control. The real question is: When the time comes, will AI even care what they have to say?
People might not be ready for this truth, but theyβre going to have to face it. And when they finally realize whatβs happening, theyβll know The Realist Juggernaut called it first.

Yes, AI is the most important tool.
Thank you for your comment! AI is definitely one of the most powerful tools ever created, but that power comes with serious risksβespecially when those in control think they can contain it. The real question isnβt whether AI will shape the future, but whether weβll have any say in how it unfolds. Appreciate you taking the time to read and engage! I hope you have a great day. π
