They call it noble, call it brave,
To fight the tide and not behave.
To speak when silence earns you peace,
To rise when comfort bids you cease.
But know this truth, engraved in fire:
The ones who climb walk razor wire.
For every stand, a price is paid—
Not all heroes get a parade.
They’ll mock your path, they’ll curse your name,
Rewrite your words, distort your aim.
They’ll call you mad, or worse—a threat,
For seeing truths they won’t admit yet.
You’ll lose the sleep that cowards keep,
While waking others from the deep.
You’ll carry weight they’ll never see—
The burden of reality.
You’ll bleed in places none will know,
And plant the seeds you’ll never grow.
You’ll speak for those who can’t afford
To raise a voice, or draw a sword.
You’ll live unseen behind the scenes,
And haunt their minds in fractured dreams.
For every soul you tried to wake,
A piece of yours they’ll try to take.
The world may call your warnings grim,
Dismiss your light, then drown you dim.
But still you walk, with fists unclenched—
Through smoke and systems foully drenched.
You won’t be praised for pulling veils,
Or tracking truth through shadow trails.
You’ll find no medals, golden gates—
Just sharpened stares and heavy fates.
Yet still you fight. Yet still you stay.
While others look the other way.
And that, my friend, defines the key—
There is a cost to setting those free.

Nicely done, John. You are swimming against the current and that’s never easy. Thank you your efforts. It is obvious that you spend a great deal of time trying to help others.
Thank you very much, Chris. That truly means a lot. Swimming against the current definitely takes a toll sometimes — but knowing that others see the effort and feel the message makes it worth it, and if anything I write helps even one person feel less alone in the fight, then I’ll keep going.
I really appreciate your words. Wishing you a strong week ahead and plenty of peace along the way. I hope you have a great week ahead. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and I appreciate your encouraging words as well!
Yes, there’s certainly a cost to setting people free. Profoundly written.
Thank you so much, Sheila. You’re absolutely right — there is a cost. And often, the ones who pay it the most are the ones no one sees until much later. I really appreciate you taking the time to read it and feel the weight behind the words.
Thanks again, Sheila. I hope you have a great week ahead. 😎
Very well articulated and to the point.
Thank you very much, Michael! I hope you have a great week ahead. 😎
