The FBI Los Angeles Field Office has concluded a month-long, multi-agency enforcement surge aimed at dismantling violent crime networks operating across Southern California and beyond, culminating in hundreds of arrests, large-scale narcotics seizures, and the recovery of firearms tied to gang and trafficking activity.
The initiative, designated Operation Coast to Coast, was carried out throughout December and involved coordinated action between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The operation focused on high-impact targets contributing to violent crime, including gang leadership figures, repeat violent offenders, narcotics traffickers, and individuals linked to weapons offenses and crimes against children.
According to enforcement results released by the FBI, the operation encompassed 36 joint enforcement actions across the greater Los Angeles region and surrounding jurisdictions. These actions resulted in:
- 92 criminal complaints filed
- 223 arrests connected to federal and state offenses
- 8 search warrants executed, including one conducted internationally in Mexico
- 102.5 kilograms of fentanyl seized
- 470.5 kilograms of methamphetamine seized
- 1.5 kilograms of cocaine seized
- 29 firearms recovered
- Approximately $3,000 in U.S. currency seized, representing suspected narcotics proceeds
Authorities reported that the arrested individuals were connected to a range of offenses, including homicide investigations, violent assaults, illegal firearms possession, large-scale narcotics distribution, gang activity, and crimes involving minors. Several arrests were tied to subjects already wanted in connection with multiple gang-related homicides, reflecting the operation’s emphasis on removing high-risk offenders rather than conducting low-level sweeps.
Federal officials stated that the narcotics seizures—totaling well over 1,200 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine combined—represent a significant disruption to supply chains fueling overdose deaths and violent crime throughout Southern California. Investigators emphasized that fentanyl trafficking remains a central driver of both organized crime revenue and community-level violence.
A specific enforcement focus was placed on MacArthur Park, an area long identified by law enforcement as a narcotics distribution and gang activity corridor. During the operation, more than ten alleged gang members were arrested for distributing narcotics in and around the park, part of a sustained effort to reclaim public spaces impacted by persistent criminal activity.
The execution of a search warrant in Mexico underscored the transnational dimension of the investigation, highlighting cross-border coordination targeting drug trafficking routes feeding Southern California markets. Officials did not disclose further details regarding the international component, citing ongoing investigative sensitivities.
The FBI stated that Operation Coast to Coast reflects a broader strategy of concentrated, intelligence-driven enforcement designed to generate immediate public-safety impact while advancing longer-term federal prosecutions. Additional arrests, indictments, or asset forfeiture actions may follow as evidence continues to be reviewed.
The operation has formally concluded, but authorities confirmed that follow-on investigations remain active across multiple jurisdictions.
