Boston Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening a Federal Law Enforcement Officer

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS — A Boston man has pleaded guilty in federal court after admitting to making violent threats against a federal law enforcement officer, following a months-long pattern of escalating online and direct communications that drew concern from both authorities and family members.

Kenneth Pacheco, 22, entered a guilty plea on January 23, 2026, to one count of threatening a federal law enforcement officer. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Julia E. Kobick, who scheduled sentencing for April 28, 2026. Pacheco was arrested in October 2025 and remains in federal custody.

Origins of the Investigation

The case began in May 2025, when law enforcement received information from an anonymous complainant reporting that an individual using the online alias “Amir Haqqani” was issuing threats through a Facebook account. The threats were directed at the complainant and other individuals and were serious enough to prompt law enforcement follow-up.

Investigators identified Pacheco as the individual associated with the account and conducted an initial interview. Authorities later re-engaged with Pacheco in July 2025, after a relative contacted law enforcement expressing concern that he might pose a danger to himself or others.

Escalation and Explicit Threats

According to court records, Pacheco’s conduct escalated following these interventions. On October 7, 2025, he issued explicit threats directed at acquaintances, friends, and a federal agent. The threats included statements that people would “get hurt,” that he would “put people in the hospital,” and that he would “blow” an agent’s “brains out.”

The communications formed the basis of the federal charge, which criminalizes threats against federal officers regardless of whether the threat is ultimately carried out.

Legal Exposure

The offense carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by the court based on statutory requirements, federal sentencing guidelines, and the circumstances of the offense.

Threats against law enforcement officers are treated as serious federal offenses due to the risk they pose to public safety and the integrity of the justice system.
