55 Arrested in Multi-State Drug Trafficking Takedown Centered in Glynn County

Federal authorities have dismantled a large, multi-state drug trafficking network operating out of coastal Georgia, arresting 55 of 56 individuals indicted in a sweeping enforcement operation centered in Glynn County and St. Simons Island.

Special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Atlanta Field Office, working through its Brunswick Resident Agency, coordinated the early-morning operation with law enforcement partners across Georgia and several other states. The arrests follow a long-term investigation into a drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing significant quantities of illicit narcotics throughout the region.

All individuals taken into custody are charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. Federal authorities confirmed that several defendants also face firearms-related charges, reflecting the organization’s use of weapons to protect narcotics, proceeds, and distribution routes.

The arrest phase involved more than 150 federal agents, deputies, and police officers. Multiple tactical teams were deployed due to the assessed risk level associated with several targets. SWAT units from FBI Atlanta were joined by teams from the FBI Jacksonville, the Glynn County Police Department, and the Brunswick Police Department to safely execute high-risk warrants.

Investigators determined that members of the organization traveled extensively to source narcotics, with supply routes linked to Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, and Jacksonville. Authorities also identified an international component to the operation. According to federal filings, one indicted individual communicated directly with a supplier in China and arranged for multiple kilograms of drugs to be shipped overseas to Brunswick, marking a significant escalation in scope beyond regional trafficking.

The organization is accused of distributing large quantities of methamphetamine, MDMA, fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana throughout Glynn County and surrounding communities. Federal officials noted that the volume and diversity of substances involved reflect a mature trafficking operation with layered sourcing, transport, and local distribution structures.

The investigation was supported by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office, and additional municipal agencies. Arrests outside Georgia were carried out with assistance from the FBI Dallas, the FBI Columbia, and the FBI Buffalo in Texas, South Carolina, and New York.

Federal officials stated that 55 of the 56 indicted individuals are now in custody and that the remaining defendant is expected to surrender in the coming days. Authorities emphasized that coordinated operations of this scale are designed to remove entire trafficking ecosystems rather than isolated actors, disrupting supply chains, financial flows, and violent enforcement mechanisms associated with organized drug distribution.

The case will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia. As with all federal criminal cases, the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
