PITTSBURGH — A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has returned a five-count indictment against Raymond Eugene Chandler III, 40, of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, accusing him of threatening federal officials, federal law enforcement personnel, members of Congress, and the President of the United States through a series of violent voicemail messages delivered over approximately one year, according to an announcement released by United States Attorney Troy Rivetti for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Federal prosecutors stated the indictment alleges Chandler repeatedly contacted congressional offices between April 18, 2025, and May 1, 2026, leaving voicemails centered around immigration enforcement operations, wealth inequality, armed conflict, and broader grievances involving federal policy and government authority.
According to the indictment, the messages allegedly escalated into direct threats advocating violence against ICE agents, federal officials, wealthy individuals, and family members of elected officials. Prosecutors allege Chandler discussed publishing personally identifiable information belonging to ICE agents, referenced the purchase of bladed weapons, claimed knowledge of where members of Congress lived, and repeatedly expressed willingness to commit violence personally.
Federal authorities stated several messages contained detailed references to the targeted murder and assassination of ICE agents, including statements allegedly involving poisoning schemes directed at restaurants frequented by immigration enforcement personnel. Prosecutors further allege Chandler threatened a member of Congress and the lawmaker’s daughter while also making statements concerning the President of the United States and violence within the Oval Office itself.
According to court filings, one voicemail allegedly praised anarchists involved in a historical bombing before ending with the statement: “I want you to be terrified.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Chandler on May 1, 2026, at his residence following the investigation. During subsequent detention proceedings, prosecutors reportedly introduced excerpts from journals recovered during searches connected to the arrest. According to the government, one journal entry stated:
“I keep calling Congress telling them I want them to kill all the ICE agents and billionaires. I must sound insane to them and yet that is where my heart and head are really at.”
Another entry allegedly stated:
“I emotionally, politically, and intellectually support violence assaults on ICE agents. I actually support it. This is a very scary place to be.”
Federal prosecutors argued during detention proceedings that the evidence demonstrated both intent and a continuing danger to the public. The court ultimately ruled that the government established by clear and convincing evidence that Chandler posed a serious danger to the community and ordered him detained pending trial.
The case arrives amid continuing national concern surrounding escalating threats directed toward elected officials, judges, federal agencies, and law enforcement personnel. Federal authorities across the United States have increasingly warned about the normalization of politically motivated threats, extremist rhetoric, targeted intimidation campaigns, and violent ideological messaging transmitted through online platforms, direct communications, and social media ecosystems.
Investigators continue examining digital communications, call records, behavioral indicators, and evidence connected to the alleged threats as the prosecution moves forward through federal court proceedings.
If convicted, Chandler faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in federal prison for each count, fines of up to $250,000 per count, or both. Any final sentence would be determined by the federal court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the defendant’s prior criminal history, if any.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
An indictment is merely an allegation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Reading the statements this guy has made make me think there is a good possibility he has mental problems. In any case, I’m glad he is off of the streets and that someone will be making a decision on where this man will be spending a good amount of his time. Talking to this man’s family would shed a good amount of light on this subject I think. I wish the best for him and that he never hurts anyone.
Thank you for this article and for today’s news, John. I hope you have a great evening.
You’re very welcome, Chris.
These cases involving violent threats against public officials and federal law enforcement personnel can become extremely serious very quickly, especially when investigators believe there may be escalating behavioral indicators, repeated communications, detailed threat language, or evidence suggesting an individual could potentially act on those statements.
Questions surrounding mental health, emotional instability, ideological fixation, personal grievances, and public safety concerns are all factors the court system, investigators, mental health professionals, and the legal process will ultimately have to evaluate carefully as the case moves forward. I’m sure his mental health will likely be evaluated as part of the process, or at least I hope it will be.
Thank you again for reading and for taking the time to comment and most of all your support, Chris. I truly appreciate it. I hope you have a great evening as well and a great day ahead. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for your thoughts on this. I hope he will be evaluated as well. At least he is out of the general public for now and he won’t be able to hurt anyone.
Thanks again, John. I hope you have a great evening as well and a great day ahead!😊
