MIDLAND, Texas — The FBI has deployed special agents and victim services personnel to Midland, Texas, following an incident that occurred on June 12, according to a statement released by the FBI El Paso Field Office.
FBI El Paso Special Agent in Charge Jarod Brown confirmed that federal personnel have been sent to assist the Midland Police Department, which remains the lead investigative agency overseeing the response and investigation.
According to the FBI, agents and victim services specialists were dispatched to support local law enforcement efforts and provide assistance to individuals affected by the incident. Federal authorities have not released additional details regarding the nature of the event, and investigators have indicated that the scene remains active.
“The FBI routinely offers assistance to our law enforcement partners and to the members of the community who are impacted,” Brown said in the statement.
Authorities are asking members of the public to avoid the area while investigators continue processing the scene and gathering evidence. Officials have emphasized that maintaining the integrity of the scene is critical to ensuring a thorough and accurate investigation.
At this time, the Midland Police Department continues to lead the investigation and has primary responsibility for releasing information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
