HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Federal prosecutors have unsealed multiple indictments charging five individuals in separate child exploitation investigations involving allegations of coercion and enticement of minors, production, distribution, transportation, solicitation, and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), along with related conspiracy offenses.
The indictments, returned by a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Alabama, were unsealed as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, a nationwide effort focused on identifying victims, prosecuting child exploiters, and combating the online sexual exploitation of children.
Among those charged is Gregory Alan Lee, 49, of Irondale, Alabama, who faces a four-count indictment charging coercion and enticement of a minor, solicitation of child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Federal prosecutors allege the offenses occurred between September 2024 and November 2025 in Jefferson County, Alabama.
Also indicted is John Spencer Murphy, 65, of Huntsville, Alabama, who is charged in a two-count indictment with transportation and possession of child sexual abuse material. The alleged offenses occurred during July and August 2025 in Madison County.
A separate five-count indictment charges Abigail Marie Roberts, 22, and Michael Clinton Chambers, 26, both of Carrollton, Georgia, with conspiracy to engage in the sexual exploitation of children, conspiracy to receive and distribute child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors allege the offenses occurred during April 2026 in Franklin County, Alabama.
Federal prosecutors also unsealed a 13-count indictment charging Landon Chace Williams, 20, of Cherokee, Alabama, with sexual exploitation of children, coercion and enticement of a minor, and possession of child sexual abuse material. According to the indictment, the alleged offenses occurred between June 2024 and February 2026 in Colbert County, Alabama.
Project Safe Childhood, established by the Department of Justice in 2006, coordinates federal, state, and local law enforcement efforts to investigate child exploitation offenses, identify victims, and prosecute individuals accused of exploiting children through the internet and other means.
The investigations were conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Homewood Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys R. Leann White and Sara M. Judah.
Each indictment contains allegations only. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Anyone with information concerning the possible sexual exploitation of a child is encouraged to contact law enforcement or submit a report through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline.

“The indictments…were unsealed as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative.”
I wonder if officials were aware how much this initiative would eventually be used when it was established in 2006. Obviously, this problem (CSAM) was an issue then and it was decided that this was an area that needed attention. I’m sure there has been an exponential rise in this type of thing since then so I’m very thankful for the initiative. Looking at this case alone, this article lists coordinating partners working to bring violators to justice. I am thankful to each of these individuals and organizations listed for the good work they do.
I hope that each defendant gets a fair trial and that those who are found guilty of any of these evil crimes that are listed get a proper sentence to fit their crime. I hope the victims get any counseling they need and that any who have done these horrible things repent and ask God for forgiveness. In any case, if they are sex offenders they should be identified on location lists to help protect the public against any future problems once out of prison.
Thank you for this article.
You’re very welcome, Chris.
Project Safe Childhood has become increasingly important as technology has evolved. While the internet has created tremendous opportunities, it has also given predators new ways to target and exploit children. That makes the cooperation between federal, state, and local agencies all the more critical because these investigations often require extensive coordination to identify victims, gather evidence, and hold offenders accountable.
I also hope every victim receives the care, support, and counseling they need to move forward. Every defendant deserves a fair trial, and anyone who is ultimately convicted should be held fully accountable under the law.
Thank you again for reading the article and for taking the time to leave another thoughtful comment, Chris. I hope you have a great night and a great day ahead. 😎
Yes, there are so many great things about the internet, but it sure has a dark side. The predators have a way of getting into people’s lives. I agree that the cooperation that so many of your articles mention is very critical.
And you know that I feel the same way as you do about the support that every victim needs and the fair trials of each defendant. We are a country that still values these things and I am so glad that we do.
You’re welcome, John, and thank you again for this article. I hope you have a great day as well!😊
You’re very welcome, Chris.
Absolutely. I know that you do, and I know we share many of the same thoughts when it comes to these cases as well. There are certain principles that should always remain important, regardless of the circumstances, and I’m glad we both recognize the importance of maintaining that balance.
Thank you again, Chris. I always appreciate hearing your thoughts, and they are always greatly appreciated. I hope you have a great day ahead. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for this comment. I hope you have a great weekend!😊
