There are days when everything feels rushed,
When every quiet hope gets crushed,
When every breath comes sharp and fast,
And every hour outruns the last.
The morning starts before we wake,
With one more promise left to break,
The sunlight barely finds the room,
Before the noise begins to boom.
Three steps toward a waiting wall,
One step back to catch the fall,
The mirror breaks across the floor,
The clock keeps ticking—who wants more?
Feel the tension, drawn too tight,
Feel the pressure grip the night,
Every word becomes a mark,
A vicious bite before the bark.
The phone keeps ringing, voices strain,
A thousand thoughts crowd through the brain,
The heart beats hard against the chest,
Still begging for a moment’s rest.
The hands keep moving on the clock,
Each second lands another knock,
No time to stop, no time to grieve,
No room to stay, no chance to leave.
We race through halls and crowded streets,
Past nameless eyes and restless feet,
Each person carrying private pain,
Behind the smile they must maintain.
A cup goes cold beside the chair,
Forgotten in the hurried air,
A meal untouched, a sleepless bed,
A thousand worries left unsaid.
We chase the time we cannot hold,
Through growing noise, and the pressures cold,
We tell ourselves to carry on,
Then wonder where our strength has gone.
The mirror’s pieces catch the light,
Each broken edge reflects the fight,
A face divided on the ground,
Still searching for a place profound.
Yet underneath the hurried pace,
A tired soul still seeks its place,
A human heart, worn down and sore,
Still knows that life must offer more.
There comes a point when something cries,
Behind the calm within our eyes,
A quiet voice that don’t sound the same,
The scream for help and no one came.
So leave the broken glass behind,
Release the doubt within the mind,
Let silence slow the racing day,
And give the heart some room to play.
The world may rush beyond the door,
The clock may beg for one thing more,
Yet time means little when we lose
The right to stop, to breathe, to choose.
Still, one slow breath can calm it all—
One step back can stop the fall.

Beautifully written, John. Sometimes we simply need to slow down, breathe, and remember that God is still with us in the middle of it all.
Thank you very much, Willie. You said that perfectly. Life can become so loud and demanding that we forget how much a moment of stillness can restore our perspective. God does not leave us when everything feels rushed or fractured; He remains present, giving us the strength to step back before the pressure overwhelms us. I greatly appreciate you reading and sharing this thoughtful reflection, Willie. God bless you and yours always, Willie, and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. 😎
Well done. Thanks for the sharing and for being there.
You’re very welcome, Milu.
I’m glad the poem connected with you, and I greatly appreciate the time you took to read and comment on it, as well as your support. I hope you have a great day. 😎
