LOS ANGELES, CA — August 17, 2026 — A Ventura County man identified by federal authorities as a member of the Oxnard-based Colonia Chiques street gang has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking and firearms offenses.
Rodolfo Hernandez, also known as “Creature,” was sentenced to 120 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Terry Hatter. Hernandez last resided in Oxnard and has remained in federal custody since September 2024.
Hernandez pleaded guilty on September 15, 2025, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
A federal grand jury in Los Angeles returned an indictment against Hernandez in 2024.
The indictment alleged that Hernandez possessed approximately 98.6 grams of methamphetamine, equivalent to nearly 3.5 ounces, with intent to distribute. It also alleged that he possessed several firearms, including a .380 ACP-caliber pistol machine gun, along with 38 rounds of ammunition in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.
The federal investigation developed from state robbery charges that remain pending in Ventura County. Those unresolved state allegations are separate from the federal offenses to which Hernandez pleaded guilty and for which he has now been sentenced.
The Ventura County Violent Crime Task Force investigated the federal case. The task force includes the FBI and the Oxnard Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Clifford Mpare prosecuted the case.
