SEATTLE MAN SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR LEADING ARMED ROBBERY CREW THAT USED JUVENILES IN DISPENSARY AND BANK ROBBERIES

SEATTLE — Michael Keylon Miller-Jimerson, 26, of Seattle, has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for his leadership role in a violent robbery conspiracy that targeted marijuana dispensaries and banks across the Puget Sound region and relied on juveniles to carry out armed takeovers.

Miller-Jimerson pleaded guilty in February 2026 to armed bank robbery, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

His federal sentence will run concurrently with a separate 15-year sentence imposed in Pierce County Superior Court following his state conviction for second-degree murder tied to the fatal shooting of a marijuana dispensary employee during one of the robberies.

At sentencing, U.S. District Judge Lauren King said Miller-Jimerson and others had carried out a violent crime spree for personal gain and used juveniles to perform some of the most dangerous parts of the offenses.

King also emphasized that the robberies continued after a man was killed.

According to court records, the conspiracy operated from December 2021 through June 2022 and involved a series of armed robberies at marijuana dispensaries before shifting to bank robberies.

Miller-Jimerson and co-conspirator Shannon Hartfield helped select targets, recruit juvenile participants, and serve as getaway drivers, while Miller-Jimerson also supplied firearms to juvenile participants.

That structure placed the juveniles directly inside businesses during armed takeovers while the adult organizers remained outside or in getaway vehicles.

On December 24, 2021, Miller-Jimerson, Hartfield, and Danesxy Ortega robbed the Greenworks and Greenfire marijuana dispensaries in Seattle.

Miller-Jimerson served as the getaway driver during both robberies.

The pattern continued into 2022.

On January 21, the group robbed Zips Dispensary in Tacoma.

On March 11, Miller-Jimerson provided a firearm to a juvenile who participated in robberies at Lucid Cannabis in Auburn and the West Seattle Dispensary.

Eight days later, on March 19, Miller-Jimerson armed juveniles for the robbery of the Bakeree dispensary in Seattle.

During that robbery, one of the juveniles fired a gunshot into the air.

The group then traveled to Tacoma and targeted World of Weed.

Miller-Jimerson remained outside as the getaway driver while juveniles entered the dispensary.

During that robbery, a 15-year-old co-conspirator shot and killed an employee.

FBI Seattle Special Agent in Charge W. Mike Herrington said the March 19 killing represented the most serious consequence of the conspiracy and demonstrated the danger created by adults who recruit and arm juveniles for violent crime. FBI Seattle lists Herrington as the field office’s current special agent in charge.

The killing did not bring the crime spree to an end.

According to federal prosecutors, Miller-Jimerson and Hartfield shifted from marijuana dispensaries to banks.

In June 2022, they sent juveniles into a Seattle Chase Bank branch in an unsuccessful robbery attempt.

The group then went to Salal Credit Union, where the juveniles brandished firearms and forced employees to open safes.

The final robbery in the series occurred on June 17, 2022, at another Chase Bank branch in Seattle.

The transition from dispensaries to financial institutions broadened both the scope and severity of the conspiracy.

Dispensary robberies already involved employees, customers, cash, inventory, and firearms. Bank robberies added federally protected financial institutions, additional victims, and a new category of federal criminal exposure.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristine Foerster wrote in sentencing materials that Miller-Jimerson and Hartfield deliberately used juveniles because they believed younger participants would be easier to control and might face less serious punishment.

Federal prosecutors also said Miller-Jimerson knew his accomplices were armed and expected them to use firearms to intimidate victims and demand money.

The government emphasized that Miller-Jimerson continued participating in robberies after the fatal shooting at World of Weed.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Neil Floyd said Miller-Jimerson recruited juveniles to carry out dangerous crimes and could not avoid accountability by placing younger participants between himself and the actual robberies.

Floyd said the robberies terrorized dispensary clerks and bank employees and ultimately cost one person his life.

The federal sentence reflects both Miller-Jimerson’s leadership role and the escalating violence that developed over the course of the conspiracy.

The case also shows how organized robbery crews can exploit juveniles as front-line participants while adult organizers handle planning, transportation, weapons, and division of proceeds.

Using juveniles in that role can expose young participants to armed confrontations, deadly force, lengthy criminal cases, and long-term consequences while shielding adult organizers from immediate physical risk.

The federal prosecution was not limited to Miller-Jimerson.

Shannon Hartfield was convicted in May 2026 of 17 federal felonies connected to the bank robbery scheme.

The broader investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies working across several jurisdictions in the Puget Sound region.

The FBI led the federal investigation with significant assistance from the Seattle Police Department, Tacoma Police Department, Tukwila Police Department, Kent Police Department, King County Sheriff’s Office, and Auburn Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kristine Foerster and Amanda McDowell prosecuted the case.

Judge King also imposed five years of supervised release to follow Miller-Jimerson’s prison term.

During sentencing, King addressed the lasting effect the crimes had on victims.

The judge noted that the robberies caused fear, anxiety, and long-term emotional disruption for workers who were threatened at gunpoint and forced to endure violent takeover-style robberies.

She also recognized victims who cooperated with investigators and testified during the prosecution.

Their participation became an important part of holding members of the conspiracy accountable.

The case now stands as a federal example of how adults who recruit juveniles into violent crime can face severe penalties when those schemes escalate into shootings, armed robberies, and death.

Miller-Jimerson’s 17-year federal sentence closes a major chapter in a robbery conspiracy that began with armed dispensary takeovers, expanded into bank robberies, and left one man dead.
