REGISTERED OHIO SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED ON FEDERAL CHILD EXPLOITATION CHARGE INVOLVING 12-YEAR-OLD KANSAS GIRL

COLUMBUS, OHIO — A registered sex offender from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, has been arrested on a federal child sexual exploitation charge after investigators alleged that he pressured a 12-year-old girl in Kansas into providing sexually explicit images and threatened to distribute the material to her family and friends if she refused additional demands. The arrest follows earlier convictions involving the sexual exploitation of an 11-year-old child.

Justin James Jackson, 23, was arrested by federal agents on October 1, 2026, and charged with production of child pornography. Federal prosecutors allege that Jackson committed the new offense while already required to register as a sex offender because of his previous criminal convictions.

According to charging documents, the FBI’s Columbus Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force received information in August 2026 concerning a 12-year-old victim living in Kansas. Investigators allege that Jackson communicated with the minor through Discord and TikTok, requesting nude photographs and videos that the girl subsequently transmitted through those platforms.

Federal authorities allege that Jackson then used the sexually explicit material to threaten the victim, warning that he would send the images and videos to her family and friends unless she continued complying with his requests. The alleged conduct involved sexual extortion, a coercive practice in which an individual uses threats of exposing private sexual material to obtain additional images, videos, or other demands from a victim.

Jackson’s criminal history is a significant component of the federal case. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio, he previously received two convictions involving the illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. Those convictions arose from a July 2022 incident in which Jackson extorted an 11-year-old child for nude photographs.

The earlier offenses included attempted illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. The Pickerington Police Department investigated that case, which resulted in Jackson’s existing criminal convictions and sex offender registration status.

Federal law imposes substantial penalties for producing child sexual abuse material. The production charge carries a prison sentence of 15 to 30 years upon conviction. Prosecutors also identified a mandatory additional 10-year prison term for qualifying registered sex offenders, which must be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed.

Jackson appeared in federal court in Columbus at 1:30 p.m. on October 1, the same day authorities announced his arrest. The initial Justice Department announcement did not identify a plea, detention ruling, or subsequent court date.

The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II of the Southern District of Ohio and Jason Cromartie, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Cincinnati Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tyler J. Aagard is representing the federal government in the case.

The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative established in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local law enforcement resources to investigate offenses involving minors, prosecute offenders, identify victims, and support efforts to protect children from exploitation through online services.

Jackson remains presumed innocent of the new federal charge unless and until his guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt. His previous convictions do not constitute proof of the allegations involving the Kansas victim, which will be determined through the federal criminal proceedings.
