JUST A NOTE: NEW READING OPTIONS AT TRJ AND A FRESH LOOK FOR TETHERED REALITIES

To Our Readers and Listeners,

We’ve been busy behind the scenes lately, making improvements to The Realist Juggernaut (TRJ) and giving Tethered Realities a much-needed overhaul. Some of these changes are immediately noticeable, while others are designed to make both websites easier to navigate, more comfortable to use, and better organized for our readers and visitors.

It’s work we’ve wanted to tackle for some time. With so much happening across our publications, music, photography, and other projects, finding the time to give everything the attention it deserves isn’t always easy. This past week, we finally had the opportunity to get a considerable amount of it done.

New Reader Text Display Options at TRJ

One of our latest additions to The Realist Juggernaut is a new Reader Text Display feature, created to give visitors more control over how they read our articles.

We understand that not everyone finds the same colors or text contrast comfortable. Some readers prefer TRJ’s traditional dark appearance with the text colors selected for specific articles, while others find darker text against a lighter background easier on their eyes, especially when reading longer articles.

So, we’ve introduced four options that readers can select while viewing an individual article.

TRJ Standard keeps the familiar appearance of our articles. White / Black provides black text against a white reading surface, while Gray / Black offers black text against a light-gray reading surface. For those who prefer the original dark background but want stronger text contrast, Brighter Text enhances the appearance of the lettering.

These options are available directly within individual article pages, including on mobile devices. Readers can switch between them as needed without changing the article itself. You can now read or listen to our articles, save your place using the bookmark feature, and enjoy a more comfortable reading experience with options designed to help reduce eye strain.

The selected text display option applies only to the article being viewed and automatically resets when the reader leaves. These adjustments do not require cookies, stored preferences, or the collection of personal information.

The goal is simple: Give people a more comfortable way to read without taking away the TRJ experience they’re familiar with.

We’ve also taken care to keep these adjustments focused on the article text, leaving photographs, navigation, advertising areas, and other website features outside the display changes.

This is one of those improvements that might seem small at first, but we believe it can make a meaningful difference for readers who spend considerable time exploring our articles.

Tethered Realities Gets a Major Overhaul

Our other big project this past week was Tethered Realities, and this one involved considerably more work.

For those unfamiliar with the website, Tethered Realities brings together our independently published books, poetry, photography, music, and other creative endeavors. It’s where several different areas of our work come together under one roof.

The website needed some attention. We wanted to improve its presentation, give visitors a clearer understanding of what we do, and make it easier to find our publications and creative projects without searching through multiple pages.

We redesigned and updated several major sections, bringing them together with a consistent white, pearl-gray, turquoise, and cyan appearance. The refreshed design gives Tethered Realities its own visual identity while maintaining its connection to The Realist Pix Corporation and our other projects.

One of the largest improvements is the expanded Book Showcase, which now features original cover artwork, more detailed descriptions, and individual purchase options for our published titles.

Visitors can explore our published collection, including the first two installments of Ink & Fire, The Inevitable, and The Forgotten Outpost. Each publication has its own dedicated presentation, complete with book descriptions and purchasing options for the available editions.

We’ve also included an announcement for the planned third installment of Ink & Fire, currently expected sometime in 2027. While a specific release date has not been established, we wanted to let readers know that the poetry series will continue.

Beyond showcasing our published titles, we’ve also added a closing message highlighting our commitment to independent publishing and the dedication involved in bringing these creative projects to life.

Writing, editing, formatting, cover design, and publishing are all important parts of that process. We take considerable pride in maintaining creative control over our publications, and we appreciate the readers who continue to support them.

Another important improvement involves our published photography. We’ve given our appearances in Bold & Beyond Magazine a more prominent place, including original magazine cover images and information about the issues featuring our work.

The updated photography showcase highlights Issue 277 from May 2025, which included a four-page photographic feature and three additional placements, along with Issue 787 from February 2026. Visitors can now view both magazine covers and follow direct links to the respective publications.

Our literary recognition has also received more attention. Tethered Realities now includes a dedicated Spillwords Author Showcase, highlighting our published poetry, featured works, author interview, and continuing contributions to the literary platform.

These accomplishments are meaningful parts of our creative journey, and we wanted to give them the space they deserve rather than have them scattered throughout the website.

ISCREEM, Photography, and Our Creative Identity

We also spent considerable time improving how our music and photography are presented across Tethered Realities.

ISCREEM now has a stronger presence throughout the website, with updated branding, artwork, and information about the music project. The changes reflect the direction we’ve taken with ISCREEM and provide visitors with a better introduction to its independent, genre-spanning sound.

The dedicated ISCREEM page brings together information about the project, its musical direction, and the platforms where listeners can explore our releases. We also updated the visual artwork to better match the overall Tethered Realities appearance while preserving ISCREEM’s distinctive identity.

The Realist Pix Photography received visual updates as well, including refreshed graphics and branding designed to better represent our photographic work. We spent time refining existing artwork, improving image details, and developing coordinated designs that fit the identity of each project.

Some of these changes involved creating new graphics, while others required carefully updating established designs without losing the elements that made them recognizable in the first place. Anyone who has worked with detailed digital artwork knows that changing a color can sometimes turn into a much larger undertaking than expected.

We also refreshed our author and creator profile, bringing together the different areas of our work, including writing, photography, journalism, poetry, music, and independent publishing.

The updated profile offers visitors a more personal introduction to the creative direction behind Tethered Realities, along with the interests, principles, and experiences that continue to influence our work.

Another priority was making the homepage more useful. Not everyone wants to click through several pages to understand what a website offers, so we made the main areas of Tethered Realities easier to discover from the start.

Visitors can now find highlights from our book collection, published photography, literary recognition, music, and other creative endeavors without having to search through the entire website. Those who want to explore further can visit the individual pages for additional information.

We also introduced a dedicated section connecting Tethered Realities visitors with The Realist Juggernaut, including direct access to our main website, articles, cybersecurity information, and advertising opportunities.

This helps bring our related projects closer together while allowing each platform to retain its own purpose and identity.

And yes, we even took care of some smaller details, including website navigation, presentation adjustments, and footer information. Those might not be the most exciting parts of a website overhaul, but they still deserve attention.

By the time everything was finished, the project had grown into a substantial update across multiple pages.

A Few Final Thoughts

Both websites serve different purposes, but they’re connected by the same commitment to independent work.

The Realist Juggernaut continues to focus on journalism, investigations, commentary, informative modules, and keeping readers informed. Tethered Realities provides a home for our books, photography, music, poetry, and other creative projects.

We want both websites to be useful, accessible, and worth visiting. That means making improvements when they’re needed, correcting what isn’t working, and continuing to develop features that benefit the people who take the time to read, listen, and support our work.

Maintaining both platforms involves responsibilities that extend well beyond publishing new material. From keeping website features functioning properly to refining the presentation of our work, the smaller details require just as much attention as the larger projects. Some improvements take longer than expected, and occasionally something that should be simple turns into a project of its own.

Anyone who has spent time working on a website probably understands that frustration.

With several projects requiring attention, we decided to concentrate on improvements that had been on our list for a while. This past week gave us the opportunity to complete those updates and bring several important parts of both websites together.

We’re pleased with how everything came together, and we hope our readers and visitors enjoy the improvements as much as we enjoyed seeing them completed.
