Anticipating the Eclipse:
NASA is gearing up for the total solar eclipse on April 8, which will be visible across North America. In preparation, they held a briefing on March 26th to discuss the event and share tips for a successful viewing experience. The path of totality will stretch through Mexico, 15 U.S. states, and Canada, promising to be one of the most observed eclipses.
Launch Delays and Preparations:
Modifications to a deployable antenna have delayed the launch of a joint U.S.-Indian radar spacecraft, now likely to occur in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, NASA and Boeing are preparing for the Starliner crewed test flight scheduled for May.
Historical Launch Anniversary:
On this day in 1958, the United States launched Explorer 3, its third satellite, into space. The satellite entered an eccentric orbit and was almost identical to Explorer 1, the first U.S. satellite.
Space Weather: March 26th
Geomagnetic Storm Watch:
The NOAA has issued a G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storm Watch. Lingering effects from a recent Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), coupled with a high-speed stream from a coronal hole, could lead to isolated periods of minor geomagnetic storming.
Aurora Forecast:
The geomagnetic activity may enhance aurora visibility in high-latitude regions. Those in areas where the aurora may be visible should look out for increased activity.
