Upon a night, so still, so black,
I wandered forth, but never back.
The moon was low, the stars unseen,
A chilling void, a ghostly sheen.
Through woods of shadow, thick and bare,
I felt a presence in the air.
A raven perched upon a tree,
Its hollow eyes fixed straight on me.
It spoke not words, but whispered dread,
A silent scream inside my head.
Its wings spread wide, the night grew cold,
And suddenly, I felt… too old.
The path I walked was worn and cracked,
My pulse grew weak, my vision blacked.
I tried to turn, to flee, to run,
But shadows blocked the rising sun.
The raven followed, ever near,
Its silent gaze, my growing fear.
It never spoke, it never cried,
But in its stare, my soul had died.
A curse it carried on its wing,
A deathly chill, a hollow sting.
And as I stepped through haunted wood,
I felt it near, I understood.
This was no bird of common flight,
But something born of endless night.
A creature wrought from sorrow’s flame,
It whispered softly, spoke my name.
“Come now, and join the endless sleep,
Where shadows coil and silence creeps.
For I have seen your deepest sin,
The curse you carry, buried within.”
Its voice, a rasp, a ghostly croon,
Beneath the pale and bloodless moon.
I staggered, cold, my breath grew faint,
For this was no ethereal saint.
It saw my sins, it knew my fear,
And in its call, I saw it clear—
A debt was owed, a price to pay,
And now the raven claimed its prey.
I felt its claws upon my skin,
It dug through bone, it pulled within.
The night around me screamed and wailed,
And every breath I took had failed.
The trees, they groaned, the wind did howl,
The raven’s voice became a growl.
It called the spirits from the tomb,
To drag me down to endless gloom.
My heart grew still, my blood ran cold,
For this, I knew, was death untold.
A fate that waits for those who stray,
Too far from light, too far away.
It wrapped me in its wings of night,
And whispered, “Now, release the fight.”
My soul, it slipped into the black,
I wandered forth, but never back.
