The sky, once blue, now drips with dread,
A smothered sun, its light gone dead.
The trees, like specters, bent and torn,
Stand silent where no hope is born.
Beneath their limbs, the earth does weep,
For all that’s lost, now buried deep.
The air, it chills, a hollow breath,
An echo of relentless death.
I wander through the shattered night,
My thoughts a maze of endless fright.
What madness grips the mind in vain
When all is dust, and none remain?
The stars above, once proud and bright,
Are swallowed by eternal night.
The moon, a sliver, cold and pale,
Mocks the living with its veil.
In shadows crawl the thoughts I keep,
Of days long past, now buried deep.
A time when laughter touched the air,
Before the world was stripped so bare.
But now I stand, a lonely shade,
Among the ruins mankind made.
The streets are cracked, the silence screams,
A broken world of shattered dreams.
I hear the whispers of the dead,
Their voices trapped inside my head.
They call to me with hollow tones,
Reminders of forgotten bones.
The wind, it howls, a mournful cry,
A dirge beneath the haunted sky.
And in its breath, I hear a plea—
Is this the fate meant just for me?
My mind, it twists in tangled threads,
A labyrinth where reason dreads.
Each thought, a door to darker things,
A cage where hope no longer sings.
I search for meaning, grasp for air,
But find no solace waiting there.
The world is gone, its pulse has ceased,
And yet I roam, a restless beast.
I see their faces in the gloom,
The ghosts of men within their tomb.
They watch with eyes both sad and cold,
As time forgets the tales they told.
Their hands reach out in silent woe,
But I am left with nowhere to go.
A prisoner of endless thought,
In this apocalypse they’ve wrought.
I ask the void, “What purpose now,
When all the world is but a vow
Of broken dreams and fractured sky?”
But only silence meets my cry.
The earth, it groans beneath my feet,
A graveyard where no hearts still beat.
And yet, I wander ever on,
A shadow seeking what is gone.
Perhaps this madness has a name,
A twisted dance within the flame.
For every breath, a heavy sigh,
As reason fades and thoughts go dry.
The edge of sanity grows thin,
As darkness claws its way within.
Yet still, I walk through endless night,
A phantom chasing fading light.
So here I stand, the last of men,
With nothing left to lose again.
The stars above may turn to dust,
The world beneath consumed by rust.
But in this desolation’s kiss,
I find a strange and bitter bliss.
For though the end has taken all,
I rise, though destined still to fall.
And so, my thoughts, like crows, take flight,
In search of meaning through the night.
But all they find are whispers cold,
A tale of grief, forever told.
The world, it sleeps, its dreams undone,
Yet I remain—its final one.
A broken mind, a fractured soul,
Wandering through this endless hole.
And in the end, what do I see?
A world that never needed me.
The ashes whisper, soft and low—
“Perhaps, dear fool, it’s time to go.”
But still I stay, a part of me
Yearns to defy eternity.
For even in this shattered land,
I clutch the dust with trembling hand.
A final thought, before I fade—
That even in the dark parade,
A flicker of the mind endures,
A heartbeat in the vast obscures.
And though the world may turn to ash,
Within this mind, the thoughts still clash.
For in the ruins, I remain,
A witness to a world of pain.

Absolutely Wonderful my Friend.

Thank you very much, Steven! I hope you have a great night. 😎
I should state my admiration of your work more often, John. I get too absorbed in my own head. Lol. Hope you are in a great place.
Thank you very much, Steven! I really appreciate your kind words. It’s easy to get caught up in our own thoughts sometimes, but it’s always nice to connect. I’m doing well, thank you—hope everything’s going great on your end as well. 😎
