We could have uncovered these issues ourselves with AI models that we, the people, approve of—since AI integration into government systems was inevitable. But now, instead of public oversight, we are left dealing with a privately controlled AI infrastructure that can never be fully removed once integrated at this scale. Rather than relying on a private corporation, we should have ensured that AI integration into government systems was subject to public accountability. While AI involvement in governance was inevitable, the extent of private corporate control in such a crucial sector should have never been allowed. The consequences of outsourcing this oversight to an external entity are now unfolding, raising serious concerns about control, accountability, and the potential for high-level information leaks.
