Apple iOS 18.3 Update
Apple’s latest iOS 18.3 update introduces support for Starlink satellite connectivity. This feature enables iPhones to send and receive messages via satellite when no cellular or Wi-Fi connection is available. Initially, the service supports iMessages and SMS messaging, with plans to expand to voice calls and data usage in future updates.
To manage this feature, users can navigate to Settings > Cellular and toggle the Satellite Connectivity option on or off. When enabled, the iPhone will automatically switch to Starlink satellites when necessary, with an indicator appearing in the status bar to confirm satellite usage.
Android’s Integration with Starlink
Android users are also receiving updates that enable Starlink connectivity. Select Android smartphones now have the ability to connect to Starlink’s satellite network, ensuring users remain connected even in remote areas without traditional network access.
To disable this feature, Android users can go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network and toggle off the Satellite Connectivity option. This prevents the device from automatically connecting to satellites when cellular service is unavailable.

Beyond satellite connectivity, both Apple and Android devices have received additional enhancements:
- Apple TV Plus on Android: Apple has expanded its Apple TV Plus app to Android devices, allowing users to stream content across a broader range of platforms.
- Rich Communication Services (RCS) on iOS: Apple’s iOS 18 now supports RCS messaging, improving the messaging experience between iOS and Android users by enabling high-quality media sharing, read receipts, and enhanced group messaging.
- Performance and Security Improvements: Both updates include critical security patches, system optimizations, and bug fixes aimed at improving overall device stability and user experience.
