I wandered where the dusk won’t die,
Beneath a blood-congested sky.
No lantern lit, no alibi —
Just shadows hissing soft goodbye,
And every step a whispered lie.
That lie became the path ahead,
Through haunted rooms I chose to tread.
A house that held forgotten dead,
Where windows dripped a ghostly red —
The walls, alive, in silence bled.
They bled like wounds I sewed in thread,
My smile a mask the sorrow fed.
Yet time had scarred each careful trace,
And dragged me through its dark embrace,
Until I begged the void for grace.
Yet grace dissolved beneath my fear,
As crows foretold the dying year.
Their wings, like blades, drew swiftly near;
Their cries announced the ruin here —
A dirge too cold for hearts to hear.
I hear the ticking, dull and numb,
A clock within the catacomb.
A low, relentless beating drum
That counts the fate I can’t outrun,
Each chime a curse in endless hum.
That hum drew me through deadened slum,
To trace a moon through ashen dome.
It blinked, then turned, then started to succumb,
As hope collapsed with none to come —
Too faint for lips forever dumb.
At last the motion stole my breath,
And danced me toward the brink of death.
Each mile became a vow, a theft,
Of love, of dreams, of joys once kept —
Now buried deep where sorrows slept.
Yet sleep escaped while stars hung thread,
For whispers filled my restless head.
They circled, haunting words unsaid,
Consumed by tears too long I’ve shed,
Then branded me with names I dread.
And dread pronounced my broken role,
For none believed I could be whole.
I lost my faith, gave up control,
While chasing dreams through ash and coal —
And paying grief’s relentless toll.
That toll now asks where I have gone,
Why every light I knew is drawn.
They’ll never see the dusk I’m on,
The tomb I wear instead of dawn —
Escaping still… yet never gone.
