In what the U.S. Department of Justice calls the largest internet piracy case to ever go to trial, five men based in Nevada have been sentenced for operating one of the most profitable and far-reaching illegal TV streaming services in North America. The verdict, handed down by a federal jury in June 2024 after a 14-day trial, marks a decisive moment in the fight against subscription-based content theft.
Jetflicks: A Digital Empire of Theft
Founded under the guise of a legitimate streaming alternative, Jetflicks leveraged automation and technical savvy to siphon off copyrighted content from across the internet. With thousands of subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, the platform operated as a shadow Netflix — serving up pirated episodes just one day after they aired, often faster than licensed services could distribute them.
The team developed and deployed automated scrapers that harvested freshly aired content, processed the media files, and rapidly hosted them in a clean, professional interface designed to appear legitimate.
And for a time — they got away with it.
The Sentences: Piracy Doesn’t Pay
The sentencing breakdown is as follows:
- Kristopher Lee Dallmann (42) – Jetflicks mastermind
- 7 years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit copyright infringement, money laundering, and additional violations.
- Accused of personally reaping millions in profits.

- 18 months in prison
- Jared Edward Jaurequi (44)
- 180 days of home confinement
- Felipe Garcia (43)
- 49 days in prison + 3 years probation
- Douglas M. Courson (65)
- 48 days in prison + 3 years probation
All five men operated out of Las Vegas, coordinating the platform’s design, coding, backend infrastructure, customer support, and day-to-day operations. They were more than pirates — they were engineers of illicit distribution.
The Damage: $37.5 Million in Stolen Value
The DOJ estimates the total copyright damage at $37.5 million, with Dallmann alone pulling in a multi-million dollar profit. The scheme directly impacted hundreds of media companies, large and small — from major Hollywood studios to indie distributors — none of whom received a cent.
“They undermined the integrity of our economy and the rule of law,” said FBI Assistant Director Jose Perez.
“Jetflicks generated millions of dollars in criminal profits, and hurt thousands of U.S. companies and individuals who owned the copyrights to these shows,” added DOJ official Matthew Galeotti.
How Jetflicks Worked: Piracy-as-a-Service
This wasn’t your average torrent tracker.
Jetflicks ran a full-service platform, featuring:
- Automated scraping tools that scanned the web for new episodes
- Centralized cloud servers storing terabytes of pirated media
- Subscription paywall systems charging users for “all-access” TV
- User dashboards, metadata tagging, and genre search — replicating the UX of legal streamers
- Private customer service channels to assist subscribers when content links failed
In other words: a criminal SaaS model, optimized for scale.
Beyond the Five: Other Defendants & Pre-Trial Sentences
While the five Las Vegas men were sentenced in 2024, the wider operation included additional players:
- Darryl Polo (operator of iStreamItAll, another illegal streaming service)
- Pleaded guilty in 2020
- Sentenced to nearly 5 years in prison
- Luis Villarino
- Pleaded guilty and served 12 months
- Yoany Vaillant
- Convicted in November 2023
- Sentencing scheduled for September 4, 2025
Altogether, eight men were indicted in one of the most complex anti-piracy cases the DOJ has ever pursued.
The Bigger Crackdown: Law Enforcement Goes Global
Jetflicks is just the latest scalp in a growing international crackdown on piracy infrastructure.
Recent enforcement actions include:
- 247TVStream (2023): Two brothers indicted for illegally broadcasting sports events
- HeHeStreams (2021): Operator charged for streaming NFL and NBA games without rights
- Crackdown on Gamer Piracy (2025): FBI seizes sites distributing Switch and PS4 games illegally
- German Takedowns (2024): Kingdom Market and several movie piracy networks dismantled
This signals a clear escalation in anti-piracy enforcement, particularly as streaming services lobby for stronger protections of intellectual property across borders.
Final Verdict: Crime Imitated Netflix — but So Did the Feds
Jetflicks didn’t hide in the dark web.
It didn’t operate through onion routers or crypto paywalls.
It marketed itself as a real streaming service — and for years, it succeeded.
But the moment it profited off what it didn’t own, it wrote its own ending.
The piracy era that mirrored Silicon Valley’s growth has now met its own mirror: a federal dragnet with algorithms, subpoenas, and jail time.
And as long as the streaming economy thrives, the war between creators and copycats will continue.
