The FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, working alongside local, state, and federal partners, completed a five-day fugitive operation that led to the arrest of nineteen dangerous individuals wanted for violent offenses, narcotics trafficking, and child exploitation. The coordinated enforcement action, part of the Bureau’s nationwide Summer Heat initiative, underscored how tactical intelligence sharing and cross-jurisdiction cooperation remain among the most effective ways to reduce violent crime.
Between October 6 and October 10, agents from FBI Pittsburgh embedded with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit. The joint task force identified high-priority fugitives, tracked digital and field intelligence, and executed arrests from Western Pennsylvania to as far as North Carolina and Kansas. Each arrest represented a different facet of violent crime in the region—from drug distribution networks to human trafficking and offenses against children.
“Law enforcement at all levels shares the same goal: protect the communities we serve. This operation proves our commitment to that mission,” said FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek. “It does not matter if you’re in Western Pennsylvania, across the United States, or anywhere else in the world—the FBI and our partners will find you and will bring you to justice. We take crushing violent crime to heart, and we will not stop.”
U.S. Marshal Stephen Eberle emphasized the importance of cooperation, noting that ongoing collaboration between agencies is key to keeping communities safe. Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus added that unified operations like this one turn coordination into results, removing violent offenders from circulation and restoring a sense of safety across neighborhoods. Acting Pittsburgh Police Chief Martin Devine credited the Bureau’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and SWAT specialists for their role in pushing guns, drugs, and repeat offenders off the streets.
During the sweep, agents seized three firearms, nearly thirty grams of crack cocaine, seventy-seven grams of heroin and fentanyl, more than seven hundred grams of marijuana, and tens of thousands of dollars in illegal drug proceeds. The heroin and fentanyl haul alone carried the potential to devastate a tenth of Pittsburgh’s population by lethal dose comparison—a stark reminder of the danger these substances still pose.
One fugitive arrested in Kansas City, Kansas, was wanted on a federal warrant for sexually assaulting two minors in his care. Another, sought in Allegheny County for stalking and violent assault, was located by FBI Charlotte in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. FBI Pittsburgh’s SWAT team also conducted a high-risk arrest in Penn Hills tied to multiple felony warrants.
While this operation focused on Western Pennsylvania, it formed part of a broader federal strategy. As of early October, Summer Heat had led to 8,629 arrests nationwide. Of those, more than 6,500 fell under the FBI’s Violent Crime and Gang program. Agents also identified or rescued more than a thousand children from exploitation cases and confiscated over forty-four thousand kilograms of cocaine, four hundred twenty-one kilograms of fentanyl, and more than two thousand firearms.
These figures reveal both the scale of the problem and the intensity of the response. Each arrest represents an individual taken out of circulation, but collectively they mark a network of enforcement built on intelligence sharing, field precision, and determination. For FBI Pittsburgh and its partners, the mission remains simple but relentless: dismantle violent networks, remove predatory offenders, and protect the public.
The arrests made during this phase of Summer Heat remind the region that organized violence and exploitation can be confronted when agencies stand together. It is a victory not of coincidence but of coordination—a testament to law enforcement’s resolve to confront the country’s most persistent threats with equal force and unyielding focus.

Thank you for sharing the good news, John.
I have been reminded repeatedly this year that when agencies stand together the victory is, as you put it, not because of coincidence but because coordination. There have been so many tragic shootings, stabbings, child abuse cases etc.. this year that have caused members of many different law enforcement agencies to have to come together to make arrests. I have appreciated law enforcement spokesmen who have made sure to mention interagency cooperation in many different cases. It is good to see them working together. I have a family member who is a police detective and I pray for her safety. Being in law enforcement has to be one of the most difficult jobs there is and I appreciate the good work that so many of them do. I’m happy to see that this operation was successful.
I hope you have a great night, John, and may God bless you and yours!
You’re very welcome, Chris — and I couldn’t agree more. The power of coordination really is what turns the tide in operations like this. When agencies set aside jurisdictional lines and move as one unified force, it reminds everyone that justice isn’t achieved by chance — it’s achieved through precision, teamwork, and shared resolve.
You’re absolutely right about the toll this year has taken — the sheer number of violent incidents has been heartbreaking, and yet through it all, law enforcement officers continue to stand in the middle of it with courage most people never see. Your family member being a detective makes that truth even more personal, and I deeply respect that. They’re out there carrying a weight that few can understand, and their strength deserves recognition every single day.
It’s good to finally share a story that reflects that kind of unity and success. We don’t get to put out many like this. Operations such as this one remind us that while crime adapts, so does justice — and when they move together, the results speak for themselves.
Thank you again, Chris. I hope you have a great night as well, and may God bless you and yours too. 🙏😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for your reply. It truly is nice to see the good guys win a few for a change. I’m keeping my hopes up that 2026 won’t be so violent. At one point this year, for quite awhile there was some tragic event every day and that was just in the U.S
Thank you for your kind words and I wish all the best for you and your family!.
