FBI, HSI, and DEA Join Forces in Dallas to Lead Homeland Security Task Force Against Transnational Crime

The FBI Dallas Field Office has announced its participation in a powerful new joint initiative — the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) — a nationwide, multi-agency operation designed to disrupt and dismantle violent criminal organizations operating across borders.

For the first time, FBI Dallas, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and DEA Dallas will co-lead a permanent fusion task force built to synchronize intelligence, enforcement, and counterterror operations in real time. The unified mission targets a broad spectrum of threats: organized cartel networks, foreign terrorist operations, human trafficking pipelines, kidnapping rings, and the digital channels that enable their reach.

What sets the Dallas division apart is its operational design. Unlike past joint units, this task force is fully co-located and co-mingled — meaning that federal, state, and local officers now share both the same space and the same intelligence flow. The result is a faster, more agile system capable of reacting to real-time data across Texas, Oklahoma, and beyond.

“This partnership allows us to extend our reach, share intelligence in real time, and effectively target the threats posed by these groups,” said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock.

The mission is also adapting to new forms of warfare. As AI and advanced analytics become tools for cartels and foreign adversaries, the task force is leveraging the same technologies to detect, predict, and neutralize emerging threats.

HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard emphasized that modern criminal networks operate as hybrid organizations — merging physical smuggling routes with digital reconnaissance tools. “By integrating federal and local systems into one operational grid,” he stated, “we’ll be better positioned to prevent deadly narcotics from reaching our communities, disrupt human trafficking routes, and intercept illicit weapons before they cross state or national lines.”

DEA Dallas Special Agent in Charge Joseph B. Tucker added that this level of cooperation “strengthens our ability to dismantle the criminal networks that threaten our communities and reinforces our shared commitment to vigilance and public safety.”

The Homeland Security Task Force spans all 50 states and U.S. territories, functioning as a unified defensive network against transnational crime. Each regional command mirrors the Dallas model — combining intelligence assets, surveillance infrastructure, and investigative power into a single, adaptable framework.

For communities across North Texas, this means that federal intelligence, local law enforcement, and advanced technology are no longer operating in silos. The HSTF marks the beginning of a national shift in how America fights back against organized crime — one operation, one alliance, and one shared mission at a time.
