PHILADELPHIA MAN FACES FEDERAL ROBBERY AND FIREARMS CHARGES IN MULTI-COUNT CRIME SPREE ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA

A Philadelphia man is facing serious federal charges following a series of armed robberies spanning multiple counties in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to a superseding indictment unsealed in federal court.

Donte Samuel Brown, 45, of Philadelphia, has been charged with two counts of robbery affecting interstate commerce under the Hobbs Act, one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of bank robbery. Federal prosecutors allege that the offenses occurred over a seven-month period and targeted both retail businesses and a financial institution.

According to the indictment, Brown is accused of robbing a Family Dollar store in Delaware County on August 15, 2024. Prosecutors allege he later robbed a Sunoco gas station at gunpoint in Montgomery County on January 28, 2025. The final incident outlined in the charging documents involves the robbery of a TD Bank branch in Delaware County on February 19, 2025.

Authorities allege that Brown stole more than $8,000 in cash across the three robberies. The superseding indictment expands on an earlier charging instrument returned in July 2025, which initially addressed the gas station and bank robberies before incorporating the earlier retail robbery.

Federal prosecutors brought the case under the Hobbs Act due to the alleged impact on interstate commerce, a statute frequently applied in cases involving armed robberies of businesses engaged in commercial activity. The firearms charge carries enhanced penalties, reflecting the alleged use of a weapon during the commission of the crimes.

If convicted on all counts, Brown faces a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment under federal law.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office through its Newtown Square Resident Agency, in coordination with the East Norriton Township Police Department, Ridley Township Police Department, and Upper Darby Township Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorneys Sandra Urban and Brian Doherty.

Federal authorities emphasized that the indictment represents formal allegations only. Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
