Federal authorities in Chicago have announced the capture of Antonio Stigler, a fugitive listed on the Chicago Most Wanted roster and sought in connection with a first-degree murder case involving the killing of a pregnant woman in suburban Cook County. Law enforcement officials identified Stigler as a significant public safety threat following the homicide, which triggered an intensive investigative effort across multiple jurisdictions after he allegedly fled and evaded arrest.
Stigler was taken into custody at approximately 6:35 a.m. Central Time on January 16, when members of the FBI Chicago Violent Crimes Task Force executed an active arrest warrant at a residence in Dolton, Illinois. Authorities said the early-morning operation was the culmination of months of coordinated investigative work, combining surveillance, intelligence-sharing, and interagency collaboration between federal, state, and local partners. The arrest was carried out without incident, and Stigler was immediately secured and transferred into law enforcement custody, formally ending a multi-agency manhunt tied to one of the region’s most serious violent crime cases.
Coordinated Arrest Operation
Authorities reported that the arrest was the result of sustained investigative work and information-sharing between multiple agencies, including the Riverdale Police Department, Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police – South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force.
Following his arrest, Stigler was transferred into the custody of the Riverdale Police Department, where he will face pending charges tied to the underlying homicide case.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the operation relied on a combination of investigative leads, inter-agency coordination, and public awareness efforts tied to the Chicago Most Wanted initiative.
Murder Charge and Fugitive Status
Court records indicate that Stigler was charged on February 26, 2025, in the Circuit Court of Cook County with First Degree Murder for his alleged role in the killing of a pregnant woman in Riverdale, Illinois, on October 25, 2024. Following the filing of charges, Stigler remained at large, prompting his placement on the Chicago Most Wanted fugitive list.
In connection with the case, the FBI had previously announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to Stigler’s arrest and conviction.
Chicago Most Wanted Initiative
The Chicago Most Wanted program was launched in September 2025 as a targeted fugitive initiative aimed at identifying and locating individuals facing serious felony charges, including murder, carjacking, and aggravated battery, who are deemed threats to public safety.
Stigler is the second fugitive apprehended under the program since its launch, according to federal authorities.
Ongoing Public Safety Efforts
Law enforcement officials reiterated that the Chicago Most Wanted list remains active and encouraged the public to review the list and report information regarding the whereabouts of remaining fugitives. Tips may be submitted directly to the FBI, and tipsters may remain anonymous. Reward money remains available for qualifying information that leads to arrests and convictions.
Authorities stressed that coordinated enforcement actions and public cooperation continue to play a critical role in locating fugitives and removing violent offenders from the community.

Thank the Good Lord that this man was taken off of the streets without a violent incident. His crime is horrendous particularly if he knew the woman was pregnant. I see this news is hot off of the presses so I watched a local Chicago T.V. station’s news on this and found all the information is already here. They did have a video of where the crime took place but it was just a boarded up home.
Thank you for this article, John, and for the other articles you did such a great job of writing today. Your writing is always at a higher level than I can achieve, precise, and easily understood. I appreciate it. I hope you have a great evening, a great weekend, and may God bless you and yours always! 🙂
You’re very welcome, Chris — I truly appreciate that. Thank you.
I’m also grateful this arrest was made without further violence. Cases like this carry enormous risk, and the fact that it ended safely matters. The crime itself is horrific, and the circumstances you mentioned only deepen the gravity of it. Taking someone like this off the street without additional harm is the best possible outcome under terrible circumstances.
I’m glad the reporting aligned with what was already out there and that nothing was sensationalized beyond what needed to be shown. Sometimes the absence of spectacle says more than any footage ever could.
Thank you again, Chris, for reading so closely and for the kind words. They genuinely mean a lot. I hope you have a great evening, a great weekend, and may God bless you and yours always. 🙏😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for your kind reply and for your thoughts on this case. I thought the same as you that “cases like this carry enormous risk.”
“Sometimes the absence of spectacle says more than any footage ever could.” I agree wholeheartedly. Just the facts is all I’m looking for and you always provide as many facts that are available in a reasonable manner.
Thanks again for this good news. I hope you have a great weekend as well and may God also bless you and yours.
