FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY GRADUATION — NORTHERN OHIO OFFICERS COMPLETE ELITE TRAINING PIPELINE AT QUANTICO AS GLOBAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COHORT EXPANDS

A new cohort of law enforcement personnel has completed one of the most selective federal training programs in the United States, with four officers from Northern Ohio graduating from the 297th session of the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. The session included 253 law enforcement professionals, representing a broad operational cross-section of domestic and international agencies.

The graduating class drew participation from 48 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, alongside 26 international officers from 24 countries, in addition to representation from four military organizations and four federal civilian agencies. The composition of the class reflects the Academy’s role as a convergence point for interagency coordination, leadership development, and global policing standards.

The Northern Ohio officers completing the program are:

• Major Christopher Adkins — Marion Police Department
• Lieutenant Christopher Denny — Sandusky Police Department
• Lieutenant Evan Slates — Ohio State Highway Patrol, Northern Ohio Division
• Sergeant Adam McQuaid — Brooklyn Police Department

The graduation ceremony featured remarks from FBI Co-Deputy Director Christopher Raia, with Cody Mills of the United States Marine Corps Investigation Division serving as class spokesperson, representing the collective body of graduates.

The FBI National Academy remains a structured leadership development system rather than a standard training course. Candidates are selected based on demonstrated operational performance, command potential, and sustained service within their respective agencies. The average participant enters the program with approximately 21 years of law enforcement experience, positioning the Academy as a mid-to-senior career advancement track aligned with executive-level readiness.

The program delivers an intensive 10-week curriculum, focused on leadership doctrine, communication strategy, decision-making under pressure, and physical conditioning benchmarks. Instruction is conducted by FBI Academy personnel, including special agents, subject-matter experts, and professional support staff with operational and academic specialization in criminology, behavioral analysis, and law enforcement leadership systems.

Academic integration remains a defining component of the Academy’s structure. Since 1972, coursework completed during the program has been eligible for undergraduate and graduate-level credit through the University of Virginia, reinforcing the Academy’s alignment with formal academic standards while maintaining its operational focus.

The Quantico-based training environment places National Academy participants within the same infrastructure used to train FBI special agents and intelligence analysts, creating a unified exposure to federal investigative frameworks, intelligence integration models, and national security-oriented policing methodologies.

Since its establishment in 1935, the FBI National Academy has graduated more than 56,000 public safety professionals, forming a global network of law enforcement leadership across municipal, state, federal, military, and international jurisdictions. Graduates typically return to their agencies with expanded command responsibilities, contributing to policy development, operational oversight, and interagency coordination initiatives.

The completion of the 297th session continues a sustained pipeline of leadership development at a time when law enforcement agencies are increasingly required to operate across jurisdictional boundaries, integrate intelligence-driven policing strategies, and respond to evolving threat environments that extend beyond traditional crime classifications.
