FUGITIVE KASHAWN ROPER ADDED TO FBI TEN MOST WANTED LIST WITH $1 MILLION REWARD

Federal authorities have added KaShawn Nicola Roper to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, escalating a multi-year manhunt tied to a 2020 fatal shooting in Kansas City, Missouri. The designation includes a $1 million reward for information leading to her arrest and conviction, marking her as the 541st individual placed on the list since its creation.

Roper is wanted for her alleged involvement in a shooting that occurred on August 23, 2020, during an altercation in Kansas City. According to charging documents, she allegedly fired multiple rounds into a vehicle, striking two female victims. One of the victims died as a result of the injuries sustained in the attack. On September 10, 2020, Roper was formally charged in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Jackson County, Missouri, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. A state warrant was issued shortly thereafter.

The case transitioned into a federal fugitive matter on July 1, 2021, when a federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Roper was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, a federal offense applied when individuals cross jurisdictional lines or evade authorities to avoid facing state charges. That designation expanded the scope of the search, bringing federal investigative resources into the case.

Roper is described as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 120 pounds, with black hair. She was born in Kansas and is 50 years old. She has multiple identifying tattoos across her body, including on her arms, back, calf, neck, wrist, breast, and abdomen, along with pierced ears. While she has prior ties to Kansas City, Missouri, authorities indicate she may travel or have connections in Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, and South Dakota.

Law enforcement has classified Roper as armed and dangerous.

The addition to the Ten Most Wanted list reflects a coordinated escalation between federal and local agencies, including the FBI, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals Service through the KC Metro Violent Crime Task Force.
