A federal criminal complaint has been filed charging Jeremy Christopher Ford, 36, of Michigan, with unlawful possession of a firearm as a convicted felon following a shooting incident at a Houston restaurant that left multiple individuals injured. Federal authorities have taken Ford into custody, with initial proceedings conducted in Detroit and a detention hearing scheduled for April 27.

The charge arises from an April 8 incident at a restaurant located on Kirby Drive in Houston, where law enforcement responded to reports of active gunfire. Upon arrival, officers identified two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, with a third person also struck during the incident according to court filings.

Federal allegations state that Ford was involved in a confrontation inside the establishment prior to the shooting. During that interaction, a handgun fell to the floor. Prosecutors allege that Ford retrieved the weapon and began discharging rounds as patrons attempted to flee the area. The complaint further outlines that gunfire continued toward individuals moving in the direction of an elevator, followed by additional shots fired near a victim already on the ground.

Investigators report that a firearm believed to have been used in the incident was later recovered at the scene, where it had allegedly been concealed before Ford fled the location. The recovery of the weapon forms a central evidentiary component in the federal charge of possession by a prohibited individual.

The complaint also details post-incident activity involving social media content attributed to Ford. Authorities allege that he published multiple videos referencing the altercation and directed taunts toward individuals connected to the event. A separate music video released after the incident is also cited in court filings, containing references to the shooting.

Federal law prohibits individuals with prior felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition. Court documents confirm that Ford has a qualifying felony record, forming the legal basis for the current charge. The case is being pursued under federal firearms statutes that address prohibited possession, which carry significant penalties when tied to violent conduct.
