Second Member of Violent Interstate ATM Robbery Ring Sentenced to Nine Years in Federal Prison

SEATTLE – A Texas man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for his role in a coordinated, multi-state ATM robbery scheme that targeted repair technicians through planned ambush-style attacks.

Ahmon Hogg, 23, of Humble, Texas, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Seattle after pleading guilty in February 2026 to four counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery. The sentencing follows a series of violent incidents in which ATM technicians were threatened or assaulted during repair calls. Hogg’s co-defendant, Seth Daquan Coles-Body, 24, of Houston, was previously sentenced to ten years in federal prison for his role in the same operation.

According to court records, the defendants operated as part of an organized robbery ring that disabled ATM machines in advance, triggering service calls. When technicians arrived to repair the machines, the suspects would confront them, often using threats or physical force, and demand access to cash cassettes stored inside the machines.

At sentencing, U.S. District Judge James L. Robart cited the structured nature of the offenses, stating that the conduct involved planning, coordination, and violence, warranting a significant custodial sentence.

The investigation revealed that over an eight-month period, the defendants carried out operations across multiple states, including Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, and Maine. Their activity resulted in serious injuries to victims and the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In December 2024, the defendants targeted ATMs in Washington state during the holiday period, when machines typically contain increased cash reserves. In one attempted robbery in Renton, a technician was confronted but escaped after a physical struggle. The following day in Vancouver, Washington, the suspects successfully seized multiple cash cassettes from a Bank of America ATM after intimidating a technician.

The pattern continued in Phoenix, Arizona, where similar ATM tampering incidents were identified. Law enforcement disrupted a planned robbery during a traffic stop before the suspects could act. Additional robberies were later carried out in Redmond, Washington, and Houston, Texas, where technicians were injured and large amounts of cash were taken.

In June 2025, the defendants expanded operations to Oregon and Maine. In South Portland, Maine, a technician was assaulted and approximately $47,000 was stolen. Authorities described the incident as particularly severe, involving significant physical violence.

The suspects were ultimately arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, during a traffic stop. Law enforcement recovered stolen firearms and large sums of cash from the vehicle, linking the defendants to the broader series of robberies.

As part of the resolution, both defendants have been ordered to pay $768,900 in restitution to victims. Hogg will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, including field offices in Vancouver, Phoenix, and Houston, along with the Columbia River Organized Crime Task Force and multiple state and local law enforcement agencies across the affected jurisdictions.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda McDowell, with support from federal prosecutors in Arizona and Texas.
