NEW YORK — Federal authorities announced the results of Operation Iron Pursuit, a nationwide child exploitation enforcement campaign targeting online predators, trafficking operations, child sexual abuse networks, and offenders accused of exploiting minors through digital platforms and interstate criminal activity. The coordinated operation involved every Federal Bureau of Investigation field office and every United States Attorney’s Office across the country during a one-month enforcement surge conducted throughout April 2026.
According to the Department of Justice, the operation resulted in the recovery and identification of more than 200 child victims and the arrests of over 350 individuals accused of crimes tied to child sexual exploitation investigations. Federal authorities stated the operation officially ran from April 1 through April 30, 2026, coinciding with National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Federal officials described Operation Iron Pursuit as one of the largest coordinated child exploitation crackdowns conducted this year, involving simultaneous investigations across multiple jurisdictions targeting offenders accused of online enticement, trafficking-related offenses, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, kidnapping-related crimes, coercion operations, and technology-facilitated exploitation involving minors.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Jay Clayton alongside Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and FBI New York Assistant Director in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr..
Federal authorities stated the operation involved extensive coordination between federal investigators, prosecutors, digital forensic analysts, victim specialists, state agencies, and local law enforcement departments tasked with locating children believed to be at risk while identifying individuals allegedly using online communication platforms, encrypted messaging systems, cloud-based storage services, and digital distribution networks to exploit minors.
Investigators stated many of the cases involved offenders allegedly operating across state lines or using internet-based communication systems to conceal criminal activity tied to exploitation material and illegal contact involving children.
One of the most closely examined recovery operations involved a 10-year-old child from Utah who federal authorities stated was transported from North America into Cuba alongside a transgender parent, a partner, and another child after originally being told the child was leaving for a camping trip. According to federal investigators, concerns emerged during the investigation that the child may have been taken overseas for possible gender-related medical procedures. Federal authorities stated the FBI’s Victim Services Division assisted with the recovery effort and coordinated support services for the child and family following intervention operations.
Federal officials emphasized that Operation Iron Pursuit was not limited to isolated possession investigations and instead focused broadly on individuals accused of direct exploitation, coercion, trafficking-related conduct, organized distribution activity, online enticement, and abuse involving minors.
Federal authorities highlighted several representative arrests connected to the nationwide operation, including a Columbus, Ohio man who pleaded guilty to creating AI-generated obscene material depicting adults and children while also engaging in cyberstalking targeting former partners, a Washington, D.C. man charged with production of child pornography, a New York man charged with sexually exploiting a child, and a Pennsylvania convicted felon charged with child sexual exploitation offenses and illegal firearm possession.
Federal investigators have increasingly warned about the expansion of AI-assisted exploitation material involving synthetic imagery, digitally manipulated content, and computer-generated abuse material designed to evade traditional detection systems. Law enforcement agencies stated artificial intelligence abuse tools represent a growing threat area within child exploitation investigations due to the ability to rapidly generate manipulated imagery and distribute material anonymously across online networks.
Operation Iron Pursuit follows several previous nationwide child exploitation enforcement campaigns conducted during 2025.
Federal authorities stated Operation Relentless Justice, concluded in December 2025, resulted in 205 child recoveries and 293 arrests. Operation Enduring Justice, completed in August 2025, resulted in 133 child recoveries and 234 arrests. Earlier in May 2025, Operation Restore Justice resulted in the recovery of 115 children and the arrests of 205 individuals tied to child sexual abuse investigations.
The FBI stated its Victim Services Division played a major operational role throughout Operation Iron Pursuit by assisting with forensic interviews, emergency stabilization efforts, medical coordination, mental health referrals, and long-term recovery planning for child victims identified during investigations.
Federal authorities also highlighted the continuing role of National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in assisting investigations involving cyber tips, online exploitation reports, trafficking intelligence, and missing child coordination efforts. The Department of Justice oversees federal funding support connected to multiple child exploitation response initiatives and reporting systems associated with NCMEC operations.
Law enforcement officials continue urging the public to report suspected child exploitation activity, trafficking indicators, online enticement behavior, or suspicious digital communications involving minors through federal reporting systems and local law enforcement channels.
Federal prosecutors emphasized that criminal complaints and indictments remain allegations unless proven in court and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I would like to thank all who were involved in this operation. Our children are our future. We must have operations like this to try and slow down these kinds of crimes. Congratulations for the good work that was done through Operation Iron Pursuit. Now the courts must do their job. I hope that all who are found guilty get the appropriate time in prison and that offenders review their situation to discover what kind of help they will need to stop these types of behaviors. I also hope that all of the victims get the proper counseling to help them with the evils that have been done to them.
Thank you for this report.
You’re very welcome, Chris.
You made several very important points—operations like this are critical because these crimes leave lasting harm not only to the victims themselves, but also to families and entire communities. Efforts focused on identifying victims, removing offenders from access to children, and disrupting exploitation networks are incredibly important.
You also raised an important point about recovery and long-term support for victims. The emotional and psychological impact from these crimes can last for years, which is why counseling, victim advocacy, and continued support services matter alongside the criminal prosecution process.
And I agree that accountability through the courts is a major part of the process moving forward.
Thank you again, Chris. I greatly appreciate your thoughtful response and your support. I hope you have a great night and day ahead. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for a great reply. The importance of the things you mentioned cannot be overstated. Something this life changing can easily require years of support services as the criminal process proceeds.
Thank you for your kind reply and I hope you have a great day ahead as well!😊
