Operation Red Card: Massive Multi-Agency Kansas City Crime Sweep Clears 442 Warrants, Seizes Hundreds of Firearms and Major Narcotics Stockpiles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies have concluded a large-scale coordinated enforcement operation across the Kansas City metropolitan area that resulted in hundreds of warrants being cleared, dozens of violent offenders arrested, and significant quantities of narcotics and firearms seized, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.

The initiative, known as Operation Red Card, was announced Friday by the Department of Justice as a joint enforcement effort designed to identify, apprehend, and prosecute individuals tied to violent crime activity throughout the Kansas City region spanning both Missouri and Kansas jurisdictions.

According to federal officials, the operation cleared 442 warrants over the course of approximately one week. Authorities additionally announced that 170 defendants now face various criminal charges involving firearms offenses, narcotics trafficking activity, and violent crime-related investigations.

Law enforcement agencies participating in the operation seized substantial quantities of narcotics and weapons during coordinated searches, arrests, and investigative operations, including:

• 8.8 pounds of fentanyl
• 418 pounds of methamphetamine
• 52 pounds of ketamine
• 15 pounds of MDMA
• 6 pounds of cocaine
• 247 firearms
• $460,872 in seized currency

Federal officials additionally confirmed that five homicide-related warrants were cleared during the operation.

The enforcement surge centered heavily on coordinated warrant execution and interagency operational synchronization involving local police departments, federal agencies, narcotics investigators, fugitive task forces, prosecutors, and regional intelligence coordination units.

U.S. Attorney R. Matthew Price for the Western District of Missouri stated that the operation reflected the impact of unified law enforcement coordination targeting violent criminal offenders operating throughout the Kansas City area.

U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser for the District of Kansas stated that Operation Red Card also serves as part of broader public safety preparation tied to major international events expected to bring increased tourism and global visibility to the Kansas City metropolitan area in the coming years, including FIFA World Cup-related activities.

Kriegshauser emphasized that the operation reinforced interagency communication systems and operational readiness across both sides of the Missouri-Kansas state line.

Federal authorities linked the operation to the Department of Justice’s broader Operation Take Back America initiative, a national enforcement strategy focused on violent crime suppression, narcotics interdiction, cartel disruption efforts, and transnational criminal organization investigations.

The operation reflects the increasing federal trend toward large-scale regional enforcement surges that combine local intelligence gathering with federal investigative resources, digital analysis capabilities, narcotics tracking operations, fugitive apprehension units, and interstate criminal coordination investigations.

Law enforcement agencies nationwide have increasingly adopted joint-task-force operational models as violent crime patterns become more interconnected with organized narcotics distribution, illegal firearms trafficking, gang activity, interstate mobility, and digital communication coordination platforms used by criminal networks.
