LOS ANGELES — Federal authorities have arrested three Southern California defendants accused of operating a violent sex trafficking scheme involving both a minor and an adult victim across multiple Inland Empire and Los Angeles County locations, according to a federal indictment unsealed this week.
The indictment charges Tyson Jamerson, 43, also known as “West Coast” and “West,” of Colton, California, alongside Jaidyn Nyle Steinberg, 21, also known as “Sky” and “Bunny,” of Cherry Valley, and Ahliyah Monique Hinojosa Tavie, 20, also known as “Tati” and “Mrs. West Coast,” of Eastvale, with multiple federal sex trafficking offenses tied to coercion, threats, exploitation, and violence.
Federal prosecutors allege the defendants targeted vulnerable victims already exposed to instability, commercial sex environments, and manipulation tactics commonly used within organized trafficking operations operating throughout Southern California corridor routes.
According to the indictment, Jamerson — a registered sex offender — faces charges including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor, sex trafficking of a minor, commission of a felony involving a minor while required to register as a sex offender, sex trafficking through force, threats, fraud, or coercion, and interstate threats.
Authorities stated the defendants appeared in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles following their arrests.
Federal prosecutors described the conduct outlined in the indictment as predatory and calculated.
“The defendants preyed on a vulnerable child and young woman, who they lured with false promises, then sex trafficked them for defendants’ enrichment,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli. “This vile conduct will not be tolerated and we will aggressively prosecute anyone involved.”
Patrick Grandy, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, stated investigators allege the operation escalated far beyond financial exploitation.
“The defendants arrested today not only sexually exploited their victims, but violently attacked them,” Grandy said. “The despicable crimes alleged in the indictment carry significant penalties, including life in prison. The FBI will never stop pursuing human traffickers, who prey on the most vulnerable among us.”
According to federal prosecutors, the first trafficking conspiracy began in September 2025 when Jamerson and Hinojosa allegedly recruited a minor victim from an area of San Bernardino known for commercial sex activity. Investigators allege the defendants transported the victim to an Ontario motel, pressured her into using cocaine and marijuana, photographed her in lingerie, and moved her between multiple “blades” — streets widely known by law enforcement for concentrated prostitution activity.
Federal authorities allege the victim eventually escaped the defendants.
The indictment outlines a second trafficking conspiracy that allegedly began in November 2025 involving an adult victim approached by Steinberg in Hollywood. Prosecutors allege Steinberg recruited the woman to work under Jamerson as a commercial sex worker before transporting her deeper into the organization’s control structure.
According to court documents, the victim later met Jamerson at a Hollywood motel, where investigators allege he convinced her to leave with him and surrender proceeds earned from commercial sex activity. Prosecutors state Jamerson collected approximately $500 from the victim before transporting her to an Airbnb property in Ontario.
Once there, authorities allege the victim’s communications and movements became heavily restricted. Prosecutors state she was prohibited from contacting friends or family members and was not permitted to leave without Jamerson’s approval.
Investigators allege Jamerson used promises of financial stability, housing, and transportation to maintain psychological control over the victim while confiscating all earnings generated through prostitution activity.
Federal authorities further allege the violence intensified after the victim eventually fled.
According to the indictment, Jamerson and Steinberg allegedly stalked, threatened, and verbally harassed the victim after she refused to surrender additional proceeds. Prosecutors allege Jamerson transmitted threats through Instagram warning the victim he would physically harm her.
The case escalated further in February 2026 when prosecutors allege Steinberg confronted the victim at a Pomona prostitution corridor commonly referred to as a “blade.” During the altercation, Steinberg allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a pocketknife, inflicting injuries severe enough to require hospitalization.
Federal investigators have not publicly disclosed additional details regarding the victim’s recovery status.
The indictment reflects broader federal enforcement efforts targeting organized trafficking structures operating across Southern California motel corridors, transient rental properties, social media recruitment channels, and known commercial sex zones frequently monitored by law enforcement agencies.
Investigators increasingly warn that traffickers are using online messaging applications, social media platforms, temporary rental properties, narcotics dependency, financial coercion, and emotional manipulation to isolate victims while maintaining operational mobility across county lines.
Authorities also continue warning that minors remain especially vulnerable to trafficking recruitment near transportation hubs, unstable housing areas, drug activity corridors, and online exploitation networks where traffickers frequently disguise coercion as relationships, financial opportunity, or emotional support.
Federal officials emphasized that indictments contain allegations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
If convicted, Jamerson and Steinberg each face mandatory minimum prison sentences of 15 years and possible life sentences in federal prison. Jamerson additionally faces a mandatory consecutive 10-year sentence tied to allegations involving offenses committed while registered as a sex offender.
Hinojosa faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a potential life sentence if convicted.
The FBI and the Pomona Police Department are leading the investigation. The United States Marshals Service assisted with enforcement operations connected to the arrests.
Assistant United States Attorneys Chelsea Norell and Mirelle Raza of the Major Crimes Section are prosecuting the case.

The details here are horrid. I hope that the sentencing fits the crimes when all is said and done. And I hope the victims receive some kind of counseling to help them work through all that they’ve been through.
This is so sad.
Thank you for this article.
You’re very welcome, Chris.
I absolutely agree. The details outlined in cases like this are deeply disturbing, especially when they involve manipulation, coercion, violence, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, including minors. Situations like these tend to leave lasting emotional and psychological trauma that can follow victims long after the investigation itself is over.
I also share your hope that the victims receive the counseling, support, and long-term care they need moving forward. Recovery from experiences like this is often a very difficult process, and many survivors carry those effects for years.
Cases like this also continue highlighting how organized trafficking operations often rely on fear, emotional control, intimidation, financial dependence, and isolation to maintain power over victims, which can make escaping extremely difficult.
Thank you again for taking the time to read the article and leaving such a thoughtful comment, Chris. It is truly appreciated. I hope you have a good night. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for taking the time for such a good reply. Your point about how these operations can control someone in so many different ways is something that needs to be highlighted. Escape is not easy in so many cases. And even when they get out of the situation they spend much of their time still dealing with the trauma that the experience has caused.
Thank you again, John, and I hope you have a good night as well! 😊
