Pennsylvania Man Indicted on Federal Child Sexual Exploitation Charges Following FBI Investigation

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A Luzerne County resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple child sexual exploitation charges following an FBI investigation involving allegations of coercion, enticement, and the production of sexually exploitative material involving a minor.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Christopher Jones, 27, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, was named in a three-count federal indictment returned in Pittsburgh.

Federal prosecutors stated the indictment alleges Jones knowingly and intentionally coerced and enticed a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity on May 1, 2026.

Authorities further alleged Jones produced and attempted to produce material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor on May 3 and May 4, 2026.

Federal child exploitation investigations involving coercion, enticement, and exploitation material production are among the most aggressively prosecuted categories of crimes handled by federal law enforcement agencies due to the severity of the offenses and the long-term harm inflicted upon victims.

Cases involving production-related charges typically receive heightened federal attention because federal law treats the creation or attempted creation of child sexual exploitation material as one of the most serious child exploitation offenses prosecuted within the federal system.

Federal authorities did not publicly release additional details concerning the investigation, the nature of the communications involved, the relationship between the defendant and the minor, or the methods investigators used to identify the alleged activity.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

Federal prosecutors stated the charges carry severe penalties under federal law. If convicted, Jones faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, potential fines of up to $250,000, and additional supervised release conditions following imprisonment.

Federal sentencing in child exploitation cases often involves enhanced sentencing considerations tied to factors including coercion, exploitation material production, use of electronic communications systems, victim age, attempted production activity, and other aggravating circumstances identified during investigation and prosecution.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey on behalf of the United States.

Federal authorities emphasized that the indictment contains allegations only and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in federal court.
