Still speaks of someone, not itself,
Their careful notes along each page,
Remain though they have left the stage.
An old song drifting through the air,
Can bring us back to someone there,
A voice once humming every line,
Still walking softly through our mind.
A daughter smiles a certain way,
Her mother shines through her each day,
A son may laugh and never see,
His father’s smile so naturally.
A phrase repeated years apart,
Still carries someone’s living heart,
Though lips grow still and eyes grow dim,
That fragment still belongs to them.
A lesson shared on ordinary days,
Can guide a life through winding ways,
A simple kindness freely shown,
May bloom in places never known.
The hands that helped, the words that healed,
The quiet strength they never revealed,
May find their way through time and tide,
Long after they have said goodbye.
We think the grave is where we stay,
When final moments fade away,
Yet death has never held the power,
To gather every scattered flower.
For pieces drift through years ahead,
Among the living, not the dead,
In countless lives they helped refine,
Their fragments move through space and time.
Perhaps we never truly leave,
Not in the way that we believe,
For when our final chapter ends,
We live through family, foes, and friends.
And when my days have reached their end,
And I have crossed the final bend,
I hope the fragments left behind,
Bring light and peace to those who find.
