TYLER, Texas — The FBI Dallas Field Office is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individuals responsible for a shooting that injured a five-year-old child in Tyler, Texas.
According to investigators, officers with the Tyler Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:45 p.m. on May 29, 2026, at the Victory Park Apartment Homes located at 2700 North Grand Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a five-year-old child had been struck by gunfire. Authorities reported that no other individuals were injured during the incident.
Investigators recovered more than thirty shell casings and additional evidence from the scene as they began processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses. Law enforcement officials believe multiple individuals were involved in the shooting.
Authorities currently suspect the incident may be gang-related. Investigators have stated that the child was not believed to be the intended target and is considered an innocent bystander caught in the violence.
The suspects are believed to be male and remain unidentified. Law enforcement officials warn that those involved should be considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting highlights the continuing dangers posed by gang-related violence in residential communities, where innocent residents, including children, can become victims despite having no connection to the underlying criminal activity. Incidents involving indiscriminate gunfire often create significant challenges for investigators due to multiple participants, rapidly unfolding events, and limited witness cooperation.
The FBI’s Tyler Resident Agency and the Tyler Police Department are jointly investigating the case. Federal authorities frequently partner with local law enforcement agencies in violent crime investigations involving gang activity, firearms offenses, and incidents that pose significant public safety concerns.
