CLEVELAND — The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cleveland Field Office has recognized Ann Jackson, Executive Director of the Geauga County Blue Coats, with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award, honoring her years of service supporting law enforcement officers, their families, and public safety initiatives throughout northeast Ohio.
Jackson received a personalized award and a certificate signed by FBI Director Kash Patel during a ceremony hosted by the FBI Cleveland Field Office.
The award recognizes individuals whose long-term commitment to public service has strengthened partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while advancing public safety through leadership, education, and civic engagement.
FBI Cleveland Special Agent in Charge Josh DelManzo praised Jackson’s longstanding commitment to supporting law enforcement and strengthening public safety through training, education, and community outreach.
Jackson serves as Executive Director of the Geauga County Blue Coats, a charitable organization dedicated to assisting the families of Geauga County public safety personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The organization also provides funding for equipment and resources that help local law enforcement agencies enhance officer safety and investigative capabilities.
According to the FBI, the Geauga County Blue Coats have donated funding for specialized law enforcement equipment, including advanced camera systems and digital fingerprint identification equipment, while also supporting initiatives designed to improve officer preparedness.
In addition to fundraising efforts, Jackson has coordinated numerous training opportunities for law enforcement agencies throughout the region. Those programs have included firearms instruction, specialized K-9 training, and other professional development opportunities intended to provide officers with updated skills and resources needed to serve their communities safely and effectively.
The FBI noted that Jackson has maintained a close relationship with the Cleveland Field Office for nearly two decades. She first became involved with the bureau after completing the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy approximately 18 years ago before becoming an active member of the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
Federal officials said Jackson has continued supporting the bureau by sharing training opportunities, collaborating on community initiatives, and ensuring FBI personnel are invited to participate in law enforcement training programs organized through the Geauga County Blue Coats.
Established in 1990, the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award is presented annually by each of the FBI’s 56 field offices to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and made lasting contributions to the safety and well-being of their communities.

This is a great article. The Geauga County Blue Coats sound like a very unique organization and we could certainly use many more like their Executive Director Ann Jackson. No one will ever know how many lives were saved by this organization or how the many types of assistance helped a law enforcement officer preform his/her job more effectively. Organizations like the Geauga County Blue Coats often work behind the scenes, so much of what they accomplish is never seen by the public. You make a very good point about how so much of the work done by these organizations is behind the scenes. I’m sure, because of that, that there isn’t enough recognition like this.
