ST. LOUIS COUNTY MAN PLEADS GUILTY AFTER TRYING TO MEET 14-YEAR-OLD FOR SEXUAL CONTACT

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis County man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge after admitting that he communicated with a 14-year-old girl through Snapchat, requested sexual contact, and traveled to her Jefferson County home despite being told not to come.

Tay’vion K. Like, 25, of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri, pleaded guilty on July 22, 2026, to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor.

The guilty plea followed an encounter on July 15, 2025, when Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies caught Like near the child’s home after her father contacted law enforcement.

According to the facts admitted during his guilty plea, Like began communicating with the girl through Snapchat in July 2025. He requested sexual contact after she told him that she was 14 years old.

Like falsely claimed that he was 17.

He then told the child that he wanted to come to her home to engage in sexual activity. She told him not to come and warned that she would call the police.

The girl later discovered that Like was outside her house. She attempted to make him leave before telling her father what had happened. Her father immediately contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and responding deputies located Like near the residence.

The child’s decision to reject the contact and notify her father allowed law enforcement to intervene before Like could make physical contact with her.

The case also demonstrates that a person does not have to complete a sexual act with a minor to face a federal coercion and enticement charge. Using internet communications to persuade, induce, entice, or attempt to entice a minor into unlawful sexual activity can result in prosecution even when law enforcement intervenes before physical contact takes place.

Like admitted that he knew the girl was 14 before traveling to her home. His false claim that he was 17 did not change his actual age or remove his responsibility for continuing the communications after learning the child’s age.

He also admitted communicating with other underage girls through Snapchat. The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not disclose their ages, the contents of those communications, or whether they resulted in separate criminal charges.

Because Like entered a guilty plea, the conduct supporting his conviction is no longer being presented as an unresolved allegation. He admitted the offense in federal court and now awaits sentencing.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 22, 2026. The coercion and enticement charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson is prosecuting the case on behalf of the federal government.

The prosecution was brought through Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood is led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local resources to identify, locate, apprehend, and prosecute people who use the internet to exploit children. It also supports efforts to identify and rescue victims.
