ROSWELL, New Mexico — August 11, 2026 — The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, Roswell Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation are seeking information from the public concerning the homicides of three men whose bodies were discovered in and around Roswell during June and July 2026.
The victims have been identified as Kent Hoffmann, Andrew Lujan-Huerta and Karl Affsprung. Two of the men were found in the Hondo River Channel one month apart. The third was discovered approximately 10 miles east of Roswell.
Kent Hoffmann’s body was found in the Hondo River Channel on June 14, 2026. Hoffmann was born in 1969 and is described as a white male with white hair and brown eyes. He stood approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed about 145 pounds.
Andrew Lujan-Huerta’s body was found in the Hondo River Channel on July 14, 2026, exactly one month after Hoffmann was discovered. Lujan-Huerta was born in 1979 and is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He stood approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 175 pounds.
Karl Affsprung’s body was found approximately 10 miles east of Roswell on July 29, 2026. Affsprung was born in 1967 and is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He stood approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed about 155 pounds.
The FBI’s public-information poster identifies the suspect or suspects as unknown. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a possible motive, identified any suspects or stated whether the three homicides are connected.
The separate discovery locations and the period between the deaths remain central details in the public request for information. Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge that may assist any of the three cases to come forward.
The investigation involves the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office and the Roswell Police Department.
