THE PRICE OF OPEN EYES

A lacquered falsehood passes fact,
While hidden hands direct the act.
Bright screens repeat the chosen tale,
Until suspicion starts to wail.

From marble chambers, mandates flow
Toward streets their authors scarcely know.
Conflict keeps the public loud,
While quiet bargains fleece the crowd.

Gold builds a staircase past the queue
For those already passing through.
Below, a mother counts the bread;
Above, they count returns instead.

Corporate powers mastered the art
Of mapping every private part.
Each route, each purchase, pause, and glance
Is weighed to steer tomorrow’s chance.

Unblinking lenses rim the street
And harvest journeys from our feet.
A silent archive learns the day
From where we stop to what we pay.

Profiles are sorted, ranked, and scored;
A quiet cage becomes the sword.
Control requires no iron chain
When fear can train the willing brain.

A polished smile can hide a blade
Behind affection well displayed.
Such loyalty survives the feast
But disappears when favors cease.

Small minds may hunt a minor flaw
To crown themselves as judge and law.
Resentment needs another’s fall
To feel an inch above it all.

Bad men may wound with fists or charm;
Bad women, too, can calculate harm.
Corruption claims no single face;
Deceit wears perfume, steel, and lace.

Users arrive with practiced need
And praise the hand on which they feed.
Abusers map the tender ground
And press where former wounds are found.

One honest question splits the haze
And opens doors inside the maze.
Once people trace who gains from fear,
The architecture grows quite clear.

Repair is owed where harm was done,
And trust, once broken, must be won.
A pardon cannot force return
Or spare the lesson one must learn.

Awareness need not harden hearts
Or mimic power’s cruelest arts.
Resistance, disciplined and wise,
Must never wear corruption’s guise.

Those wrapped in wealth may dodge the cost,
While poorer lives absorb what’s lost.
Their privilege may stall the blame,
But cannot clear a guilty name.

Once people recognize the chain,
The cage itself will still remain.
Awareness cannot break the frame,
But shows exactly who’s to blame.

Forgive, yet never call wrong right;
Let mercy walk beside clear sight.
Release the hatred, guard the key—
Accountability once kept us free.

Open eyes may bear the cost;
Still, who would mourn the blindness lost?
