LOUIN, MS — August 14, 2026 — Gregory Henderson Jr., a federal fugitive accused of leading an international drug-trafficking, money-laundering, and dogfighting operation, has been arrested in Mississippi after nearly three years as a fugitive.
Henderson, 46, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was the 542nd person added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The FBI announced his placement on the list on August 11, 2026. Agents captured him the following day.
Members of the FBI’s Jackson Field Office apprehended Henderson without incident in Louin, Mississippi, at approximately 1:55 p.m. Central Time on August 12.
Henderson appeared in federal court in Mississippi on August 13 and remained in federal custody pending additional judicial proceedings and his return to Indiana. He is expected to face prosecution in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
The FBI had offered a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Henderson’s arrest. Authorities have not announced whether the reward will be paid or whether a specific public tip directly produced the arrest.
Henderson had been a federal fugitive since August 2023, when a federal arrest warrant was issued in connection with a multijurisdictional investigation into international narcotics trafficking and an animal-fighting enterprise.
During a large-scale enforcement operation against Henderson’s organization on August 31, 2023, Henderson evaded arrest and remained outside federal custody until his capture in Mississippi.
Henderson is one of 31 people indicted through the Southern District of Indiana in connection with the broader investigation.
He is charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, and conspiracy to engage in an animal-fighting venture involving dogfighting.
Federal authorities accuse Henderson of leading a violent neighborhood-based gang in Indianapolis affiliated with the Gangster Disciples. The organization allegedly maintained significant drug-distribution connections to the Sinaloa Cartel.
The alleged trafficking network distributed cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine throughout Indianapolis and other parts of the Midwest, according to the FBI.
Henderson is also accused of participating in a dogfighting enterprise that caused severe abuse and the deaths of numerous dogs. That portion of the federal case involves alleged violations connected to animal fighting under the Animal Welfare Act.
The charges against Henderson remain accusations. His arrest and indictment do not constitute a conviction, and the government must prove the charges in court.
During the fugitive search, the FBI identified Henderson through the aliases “Grego,” “Whitey,” Corree Williams, and Gregory Darnell Henderson Jr. Authorities reported that he had connections to several Midwestern cities, including Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Dayton, Louisville, Lexington, Chicago, Detroit, and St. Louis.
FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Timothy J. O’Malley said Henderson’s capture reflected the persistence of investigators, cooperation among law enforcement agencies, and assistance from members of the public.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana Tom Wheeler described the arrest as a significant step toward returning Henderson to Indiana to answer the federal charges.
FBI Jackson Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Eikhoff credited coordination among federal, state, and local agencies across state lines for the arrest.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Inspector General John Walk said the capture advanced the federal effort to enforce animal-welfare laws and address the connection between dogfighting operations and other dangerous offenses.
The underlying investigation involved the FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the U.S. Department of Agriculture; the U.S. Marshals Service; the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General; the Drug Enforcement Administration; IRS Criminal Investigation; the Indiana Gaming Commission; the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department; and the Fishers Police Department.
Mississippi agencies assisting the operation included the Mississippi Highway Patrol Special Operations Group, a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics task force officer, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The FBI established its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in March 1950. Henderson became the 542nd person placed on the list and the 503rd fugitive from the program to be apprehended or otherwise located.

This is a striking example of how persistent, coordinated law enforcement can eventually bring even a long-term fugitive into custody.
What stands out most is that Henderson reportedly remained a fugitive for nearly three years, yet investigators continued pursuing the case across multiple jurisdictions. His capture demonstrates the importance of patience, cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and public assistance in complex investigations that cross state and international boundaries.
Thank you very much. This arrest also shows why the passage of time should never be mistaken for permanent escape. Warrants, charges, and the responsibility to answer before the court do not disappear simply because years have passed. Henderson’s capture ends the fugitive phase and allows the judicial process to move forward. I appreciate your thoughtful perspective. 😎
