BUFFALO MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSE AFTER PRIOR CONVICTION

BUFFALO, N.Y. — August 21, 2026 — A Buffalo man with a prior child-pornography conviction has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after investigators recovered dozens of images and videos of child pornography from multiple devices and determined that he distributed illegal material to others through Telegram.

Nicholas Mangione, 45, of Buffalo, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo after being convicted of possession of child pornography following a prior conviction.

Mangione had previously been convicted of possession of child pornography in April 2013 and was sentenced to serve 48 months in prison.

The new investigation began after authorities discovered that Mangione had uploaded a file containing child pornography to the Snapchat server.

On August 15, 2024, investigators executed a federal search warrant at Mangione’s residence. During the search, agents seized his cellular telephone.

A forensic examination of the device uncovered approximately 20 images and 52 videos of child pornography.

Investigators also determined that Mangione had used the Telegram application to distribute child pornography to other individuals in exchange for additional child-pornography files.

The following day, on August 16, 2024, Mangione was arrested on New York State charges. At the time of his arrest, authorities found him in possession of another cellular telephone.

That second device also contained images and videos of child pornography.

According to federal prosecutors, some of the material possessed by Mangione depicted the sexual exploitation of an infant or toddler, while other material contained depictions of violence against children.

The federal case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Allen D. Davis II, and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Amie Feroleto.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the sentence.

Mangione will now serve 15 years in federal prison for the new child-pornography offense following his earlier four-year sentence imposed after the 2013 conviction.
