JACKSONVILLE MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE 13-YEAR-OLD CHILD FOR SEXUAL ACTIVITY

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 27-year-old Jacksonville man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to attempting to entice a 13-year-old child to engage in sexual activity, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Orlin Eli Gonzalez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger and was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release after completing his prison term. He must register as a sex offender. Gonzalez was arrested on September 4, 2025, remained in federal custody, and pleaded guilty on June 17, 2026.

According to court documents, the case began during an FBI undercover operation conducted between August 28 and September 4, 2025. An undercover FBI agent was using an online social media application while posing as a 13-year-old child in an effort to identify adults attempting to contact children for sexual activity.

The undercover agent communicated privately with an account using the name “Orlean.” After the agent made clear that the supposed child was 13 years old, the user continued the conversation and asked about the child’s sexual experience. Court records state that “Orlean” also requested nude photographs, sent a message saying he wanted to see the child naked, and asked whether the child wanted to have sex. Investigators later identified the account user as Gonzalez.

The communication continued on September 4, 2025. Prosecutors said Gonzalez confirmed that he intended to meet the 13-year-old for sexual activity at the child’s home in Jacksonville and requested the address. Later that afternoon, investigators observed Gonzalez riding a bicycle toward the agreed-upon location. FBI agents arrested him when he arrived.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentence. The FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Rodney Brown prosecuted it.

The prosecution was brought under Project Safe Childhood, the Justice Department initiative launched in 2006 to coordinate federal, state, and local resources against child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify, rescue, and seek justice for child victims.

The case also demonstrates how undercover online operations are used to identify adults seeking sexual access to children.
