SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — A California man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for orchestrating the sexual exploitation of multiple children through social media, using blackmail, threats of violence, and secretly recorded video calls to force victims into abusive situations.
Markus Hudson Jr., 28, of Sacramento, California, received the sentence in federal court in San Antonio following his guilty plea to production of child sexual abuse material and coercion and enticement of a minor. The sentencing was announced October 15, 2026, by U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas.
Federal court records describe a pattern of exploitation spanning multiple incidents in which Hudson used TikTok and Snapchat to contact victims, threaten the disclosure of intimate images, and compel sexual conduct involving children. Investigators determined that he used a separate cellphone to record abusive activities during video calls, preserving material that he subsequently used to intimidate and humiliate victims.
The first documented incident occurred in May 2023, when Hudson coerced an adult woman he had met through TikTok into sexually assaulting a six-year-old child in Uvalde, Texas. Hudson threatened to distribute intimate photographs of the woman to relatives and acquaintances unless she complied with his demands.
According to court documents, the woman carried out the assault during a video call with Hudson, unaware that he was recording the abuse using another phone. Afterward, she refused further communication with him. Hudson subsequently distributed images of the assault to one of her former classmates.
A separate incident began in June 2024, when Hudson contacted a 14-year-old girl through Snapchat and claimed to possess nude images of her. He threatened to open fire on her residence unless she followed his instructions.
Hudson forced the girl to appear unclothed during a video call, which he secretly recorded. He then used threats of distributing the recording to pressure her into sexually assaulting another minor.
Following repeated intimidation, the 14-year-old complied with his demands. The resulting abuse involved the girl, two additional minors, and an adult, and Hudson recorded the activity. He later distributed images to the girl’s classmates.
Federal investigators ultimately determined that Hudson had enticed and recorded sexual activity involving the 14-year-old, three other minors, and two adults.
The conduct reflected a coercive pattern commonly identified in federal child exploitation investigations as sextortion. Offenders use intimate images, threats of exposure, or threats of physical harm to force victims into additional sexual conduct or the production of explicit material. In cases involving minors, these threats can also be used to compel victims to involve other children, extending the abuse beyond the person initially targeted.
Hudson’s actions demonstrate how recorded material can become both evidence of a criminal offense and a means of continuing victimization. The distribution of abusive images to classmates and other acquaintances can expose victims to additional humiliation and psychological harm after the original abuse has ended.
Hudson was arrested on December 13, 2024, and subsequently charged in a five-count federal indictment filed January 8, 2025. On April 30, 2026, he pleaded guilty to two counts: production of child sexual abuse material, identified in the federal charge as production of child pornography, and coercion and enticement of a child.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons emphasized the dangers of offenders using social media to manipulate children and other vulnerable individuals. He also recognized the importance of victims reporting exploitation, explaining that their disclosures can provide the information investigators need to identify perpetrators and pursue criminal charges.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Daniel Faith described the sentence as a significant consequence for Hudson’s crimes and acknowledged the cooperation of local and federal investigators involved in bringing the case to prosecution.
The investigation involved the FBI, Uvalde Police Department, and Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from FBI Sacramento. The cooperation between agencies in Texas and California was important in addressing crimes conducted remotely through electronic communications across state lines.
Federal prosecutors have broad authority to investigate and prosecute the production of child sexual abuse material and the coercion of minors through interstate communications. These offenses can involve individuals who never physically meet their victims but use internet platforms, messaging services, and video technology to direct abuse from distant locations.
The Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, established in 2006, coordinates federal, state, and local efforts to investigate technology-facilitated child exploitation, identify victims, and prosecute offenders. Its national framework also emphasizes prevention, investigative training, and cooperation among law enforcement agencies handling crimes against children.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sade Bogart prosecuted the case for the Western District of Texas.
Hudson’s 30-year prison sentence concludes the sentencing phase of the federal prosecution and reflects the severity of the offenses to which he pleaded guilty, including the exploitation of children through threats, manipulation, and recorded sexual abuse.
