PORTLAND, OREGON — A five-week federal law enforcement operation targeting firearms and narcotics trafficking across the Portland metropolitan area resulted in the seizure of 97 firearms and approximately 195 pounds of illicit drugs, according to federal authorities.
The operation was conducted from August through September 2026 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.
Investigators used enforcement data to identify high-risk locations and conduct targeted investigative activity involving suspected firearms and drug trafficking. Authorities seized methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and other illicit drugs during the operation.
Federal authorities said 17 individuals have been arrested to date: Steven Hatcher, Anthony Connelly, Ryan Grant, Aaron Stauffera, Jeanni Crane, Carlos Ruiz-Perez, Manuel Bernal, Francisco Claudillo-Dimas, Melanee Bybee, Jay Williams Gimbal Reynolds, Kenneth Hamilton, Michael Hoeft, Makayla Williams, Kristy Roberts, Oscar Yanez, Gus Wayne, and Thomas Dingus.
ATF Seattle Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Blais said the operation was aimed at disrupting firearms trafficking and removing dangerous drugs and illegally trafficked weapons from the Portland area.
DEA Seattle Field Division Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Saccone said the enforcement effort also supports the DEA’s broader effort to disrupt fentanyl trafficking and reduce the supply of illegal narcotics reaching communities.
Participating agencies included the ATF, DEA, FBI, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program, Gresham Police Department, Portland Police Bureau, Port of Portland Police Department, Salem Police Department, Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Multnomah County Parole and Probation Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Community Violence Reduction Team, Hillsboro Police Department, Westside Interagency Narcotics Taskforce, and Scappoose Police Department.
The announcement identifies the 17 individuals as having been arrested but does not provide specific charges or case dispositions for each person. An arrest does not constitute a conviction, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
