In a home where the world whispers still,
Two aged souls climbed life’s last hill,
Their hands, like timeworn parchment, fold,
In nursing home, where stories told.
A haven for hearts in winter’s chill,
Their love, a flame that flickers still.
Through days of quietude and grace,
They found a serene, sacred space.
They reminisced of days gone by,
Of youthful dreams that touched the sky,
The paths they walked, so long and far,
Now under evening’s first bright star.
In each other, they found a friend,
A bond to cherish, to defend.
Their laughter echoed through the halls,
A balm for time’s relentless calls.
They shared their meals, their simple joys,
Unfettered by life’s fleeting noise,
In whispered words, a world was spun,
Of all they’d done, or left undone.
As night descended, soft and slow,
They spoke of places they would go.
In dreams where they could freely roam,
Beyond the confines of their home.
One tranquil night, as moonlight streamed,
They closed their eyes and together dreamed,
A dream from which they’d not return,
In sleep’s embrace, they softly turned.
No more the ache of weary bones,
Just two souls, and their gentle tones.
They slipped away, hand in hand,
To wake no more in mortal land.
Lived together, in laughter and tears,
Died together, casting off fears,
And in eternity’s gentle wave,
Their love endures, beyond the grave.
Now in the stars, their whispers weave,
A tapestry that time can’t cleave.
In nursing home, their bodies rest,
But in the cosmos, they’re truly blessed.
Their love’s a legend, pure and true,
A beacon for the hearts that rue,
In life, in death, their spirits soar,
Together now, forevermore.
So let this poem be a testament,
To love that’s lived, and never spent.
In nursing home’s quiet reprieve,
Two souls danced, and we believe.
That love’s not bound by final breath,
Nor silenced by the touch of death,
For in the stars, in endless night,
Their love shines on, an endless light.
