Once upon a time, in a land of dreams,
Where love was pure, or so it seems,
We wrote our tale in whispered tones,
In a castle high, built of hopes and stones.
I was the knight, you were my queen,
In a world where nothing came between.
We danced in gardens, under moonlit skies,
With stars reflecting in our eyes.
But every fairy tale has its night,
When shadows rise and dim the light.
A dragon woke within our hearts,
Breathing fire that tore us apart.
The crown that shone on your golden hair,
Grew heavy with the weight of despair.
My armor, once strong, began to rust,
And trust, our shield, turned into dust.
The clock struck twelve, the spell unwound,
Our dreams lay shattered on the ground.
The glass slipper, once a perfect fit,
Now a relic of a love unlit.
The pages turned, the plot grew dark,
Our fairytale lost its spark.
Yet in the twists, where love did fray,
I found the strength to walk away.
For every tear that stained my cheek,
Gave birth to courage I thought too weak.
The story changed, the chapters flipped,
But in the end, I wasn’t eclipsed.
I wandered through the forest deep,
Where memories of us still sleep.
But in those woods, I found a key,
To unlock the door and set me free.
The castle walls, now crumbled stone,
Echoed tales of what we’d known.
But in those ruins, flowers grew,
Nurtured by the pain I knew.
I saw the truth within the lies,
A phoenix rising, love’s disguise.
For in the ashes of our past,
I found a love that’s built to last.
Not in a queen, or in a dream,
But in myself, a steady stream.
A love that flows, that won’t be torn,
A love reborn, no longer worn.
The broken heart, now healed and whole,
Carved a new path, a different goal.
For in the end, it’s me who won,
A tale of strength, a rising sun.
The fairytale, though it did break,
Gave me wings for my own sake.
And as I soar above the pain,
I write my story once again.
No longer bound by fantasy’s snare,
I walk with truth, beyond despair.
For every twist and every turn,
Lit a fire in me that will forever burn.

Thank you. My life is happy now and full of love for my family and most people I meet. I enjoy exchanges with people who are buying groceries and laughing with them. You might have seen some of those blogposts about excursions in the gro era store. I enjoy making people laugh. I am thankful and content.

I love this! It kind of tells my story too. My uncontrolled diabetic husband was sometimes abusive. He passed in 2009. I learned who I could be after he was gone. I am wiser, older, and stronger now. I understand.
