FBI Arrests Louisiana Man Accused of Threatening ICE Officers Amid Extremism Investigation

Federal authorities have arrested a Louisiana man accused of making explicit threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers as part of an ongoing domestic extremism investigation involving coordinated online activity, weapons acquisition, and alleged operational planning.

Micah James Legnon, 28, of New Iberia, Louisiana, was arrested on December 13 following the filing of a criminal complaint in the Western District of Louisiana charging him with threatening federal law enforcement officers. The arrest was carried out after federal surveillance identified conduct investigators described as consistent with preparation for violent action.

According to court filings, Legnon is alleged to be associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group described by investigators as anti-government, anti-capitalist, and supportive of violent action against U.S. institutions. Federal investigators state that Legnon used the aliases “Dark Witch” and “Kateri the Witch” in online spaces connected to the group.

Authorities allege that Legnon participated in a private chat channel referred to as the “Order of the Black Lotus,” where members discussed tactical concepts, including urban warfare methods, and exchanged threats directed at ICE officers. Investigators further allege that Legnon amplified these threats through online postings outside the group channel.

The investigation intensified on December 12 after federal authorities arrested multiple TILF-associated individuals in California on allegations related to plotting explosive attacks in Los Angeles. Court records state that Legnon was placed under active FBI surveillance the same day due to his communication links with those individuals.

Later that day, agents observed Legnon leaving his residence with what appeared to be an assault-style rifle and body armor loaded into his vehicle. Investigators interpreted the movement as a potential step toward imminent action. Local law enforcement, acting in coordination with federal authorities, conducted a traffic stop and arrested Legnon without incident.

A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded an assault rifle, a pistol, body armor, and a gas canister. A subsequent federal search warrant executed at Legnon’s residence reportedly uncovered multiple firearms, large quantities of ammunition, sniper and SWAT training manuals, and additional tactical materials.

Federal authorities have stated that Legnon has a military background, a factor investigators considered relevant in assessing capability and risk during the surveillance phase of the case.

The investigation is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. Prosecution is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana with support from the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.

Officials have emphasized that threats against federal officers are treated as national security matters when tied to organized extremist activity, weapons acquisition, and cross-state coordination. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities have not ruled out additional charges or related arrests.

As with all federal criminal proceedings, the criminal complaint constitutes an allegation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
